I really wish BlueSky had a privacy option
I also became an adult at a young age for a lot of sobering reasons and refuse to give up my whimsy as well, especially NOW. Disney and LEGO and Star Trek and cute, frilly skirts, fun purses and costumes. So many of us grew up too fast and deserve to give ourselves the childhood we didn’t have.

There are men I’ve blocked and avoid like the plague and they still find me at conventions. Others whom I’ve politely distanced myself from or have limited interactions with will still linger in my orbit. It’s even worse for younger women, and really fucking awful to have to think about when we -
I’ve also never cared about sharing my age with others. It’s a number - and a privilege to achieve these years. However, patriarchy always loves to remind me I should never share my age, god forbid I’m no longer “young enough” - when I’m 20, 30, 40 - disturbing, isn’t it?
I never think about my age until some kid calls me Ma’am
I feel like I don’t exist as an age or what an age should be - no matter the age I’ve been or am
I’m 45 in a few months and everyone else is “the adults.”
Do you just not feel the age you are until you’re 90? (if you’re privileged to live that long.)

My issue isn’t intent; it’s the fact that my brain can’t answer dishonestly with the positivity most people expect and prefer. How is *anyone* “good!” or “great!” right now? And answering honestly is me saying out loud that I’m not okay, verbal reminders of what’s wrong, and that’s not good for me

In part, the “go hard or go home” mentality that didn’t allow me the rest I needed during class. Due to my various disabilities I need to be able to stop before I accidentally pass out and they didn’t seem to care.
Definitely sounds like a much better space than what’s available down here. Try it when you’re ready!
They’re offering it at Orangetheory but I haven’t tried it. I heard some bad things about the regional head here in FL, and it’s too much like CrossFit IMO - and I didn’t enjoy CrossFit. Let me know if you try it! I might over the summer just to say I did it. We’ll see.

The absolute ghoulishness when the sum total of your politics is "I want catastrophically bad things for the bad guys." Inevitably you're enthusiastically cheering for things that are immensely worse for a massive shit ton of innocent people than they ever will be for the bad guys.
There was a meme a while back depicting Mar a Lago as a recommended missile target. It made me uncomfortable then - for the very real reason that today, roads around the estate are closed due to being under threat. I work less than a mile away. Trying not to think about it too much.
