Field guide papers are not merely field site descriptions; they must include an explanation of their tectonic significance and a review of the current state of the art.
We already have two field guide manuscripts in the review pipeline. We are waiting for yours !

Screenshot of top of web page about AI usage. Text says: Tektonika guidelines about AI usage, version 2, January 2026. All results produced with the help of various AI tools are ultimately the responsibility of those submitting articles for review. In other words, if it was produced by AI, it is the authorsβ obligation to carefully review the results, in order to ensure their accuracy and validity. Authors must also pay attention to possible copyright or authorship issues, for example when analysing datasets from external sources with AI tools, or using such tools to synthetise scientific literature. These general principles are broken down below according to the different types of usage.
At Tektonika #DOAJ we have updated our guidelines about #AI usage.
Version 2 is there: tektonika.online/index.php/ho...
Our upcoming editorial, publishing soon, will explore these guidelines and our editor's opinions about AI.
Interesting reading here π about #AI, #teaching in Universities, and assessing student's #knowledge building and understanding.
No simple answer. We cannot remain in a position of total rejection (for valuable ethical reasons), nor of uncontrolled acceptance.

They write: #AI promises rapid and polite review on papers
BUT also that:

Basic principle: any use of AI by authors must be declared, and justified, and must follow the rules detailed in our guidelines π
Respect transparency and #openscience #ethics
A very important point for our reviewers: It's strictly prohibited for them to use online AI tools to summarize or evaluate submitted manuscripts.
Uploading a manuscript, or part of it, to third-party systems breaches manuscript's confidentiality and authorship rights. βοΈ
