Fig. 1.Summary of the approach taken to identify tembotrione-metabolizing enzymes in resistant Amaranthus palmeri. A parental resistant population with enhanced tembotrione hydroxylating activity was crossed with a susceptible population to produce pseudo-F2 lines segregating for tembotrione resistance. Candidate resistance genes were identified by RNA-seq and validated by measuring hydroxy-tembotrione production in yeast overexpressing each gene. Polymorphisms in the promoter of the validated gene, CYP72A1182, plus a QTL analysis pinpointing genomic regions associated with resistance, suggest that differential transcriptional regulation of CYP72A1182 is responsible for the differences in hydroxylating capacity between susceptible and resistant plants.

🧬 Flipped DNA is rewriting evolution
In Lake Malawi, 800+ fish species evolved in record time
– flipped chunks of DNA lock in survival traits and pass them on intact
— humans have them too.
So how your DNA is arranged might matter more than what’s in it

On #BiodiversityDay, we’re celebrating life on an ocean world. Our survival and ability to thrive are inextricably linked with the health of the planet and all of its inhabitants. Over 90% of the habitable space on Earth is in the Ocean, which is home to much of the planet’s biodiversity.

Because back before political interference decimated Public Health, we used to close schools when there was a case of #measles. The new pandemic normal is to leave schools open and for reporters to ignore this basic principle. #PublicHealth
