Be careful when flying with unconnected extra batteries though
As long as they are the same type, 3DS and Switch Pro Controller are the same battery. 3DS XL and New 3DS XL are also the same.
You can also remove the screws from the cover for hot swapping batteries on the go however some models are better than others for this, 3DS XL have clips on the cover
