We are as far from 1980 as 1980 was from 1934.
For me as well. WWII was my grandfather’s war and they were old and it felt distant.
Now I am old and can see more of the arc of history and it feels much closer.

This doesn’t happen with a competent government.
1 of the things that pissed me off about Biden bashing…nobody ever talked about how he had some of the most capable cabinets & staffers ever.
