Pretty crazy how important the blockade of a trade route is right now

Some professors at the University of St. Thomas are doing a research project on the effects of the ICE occupation on Twin Cities parents. They're looking for parents who are US citizens, who live in the Twin Cities metro area, and who have kids ages 5-10.

Can't say this enough
all of Minnesota howling WE TRIED TO WARN YOU. WE EVEN SUGGESTED YOU PICK SOMEONE FROM WISCONSIN, OUR MORTAL ENEMY
Would Ben Wikler have been this sterile and inadequate?
Not great.
Fun fact:
John Piper's Mpls church is the mother church to Cities Church in St Paul (the site of the protest after which Don Lemon and Georgia Fort were arrested)
Bold strategy.
This admin has spent the last two months demonstrating to federal judges IN THE DISTRICT OF MINNESOTA that they obfuscate, mislead, and choose not to operate in good faith.
I'd be surprised if there isn't a stay by Friday.
i didn't watch the sotu.
it's the small wins that will keep you going!
I need to address this immediately, because I am WAY too Minnesotan to ever claim credit for this.
I built a thing to point the fire hose of people's generosity in the right direction. That's it.
I am thankful for the piece, because hopefully it means people will donate more money.
"Interconnected, interdependent communities are resilient communities. Crisis will come to you...[We're told the] answer...is the police, or...giving to a charity. But really, the answer is actually just helping each other, knowing each other, depending on each other."
Well said from @ziibiing.com
Also, these are definitely bumper plates.
When you see pictures of Pete Hegseth lifting weights in a group with others, remember that he famously doesnβt believe in washing his hands after he goes to the bathroom.
Code of Honor
Gotta go with Code of Honor
But I digress...
On the onminutetours guy: his mistake in this situation (obvious grifting aside) was mentioning Minnesota at all, especially under the current circumstances. If he would have just kept it general about the US, no one would have cared.
Also, re the Minnesota 1st Volunteers: google "Jesse Ventura Virginia battle flag" for a laugh.
My great great granddaddy didn't get shot at Gettysburg so those traitors could get their traitor rag back.
Meme with Bane from The Dark Knight Rises: You think the cold is your ally? You merely adopted the cold. I was born in it, molded by it. I didn't see warmth until I was already a man.
* About the e cold: in many states, schools close because of excess snow. At least when I was growing up, that was rare. School only closed for us when it got really cold, like -10 F or lower.
No school meant we got to stay home, which generally meant we spent the day playing outside in the snow.
Minnesotans have a deep pride in being Minnesotan.
Do you know how cold it gets here?*
Have you even seen Purple Rain?
MN has 10,000 REAL lakes; we dont count tiny unnamed puddles like WI.
Have you heard how the Minnesota 1st Volunteers saved the Union during the Civil War?
My favorite art of the John O'Sullivan/onminutetours thing is that he lived here for five years but that was apparently not long enough to learn that if you disparage the Great State of Minnesota--especially from the outside--you're dead to us.
very well said
But there is nothing healthy about this...it is the same kind of zero-sum politics that leaves NO PLACE for the "opponent" to exist...It is intended to destroy and not to build solidarity or common cause
Social media, as practiced for clicks, is almost always antithetical to creating common cause
Have you thought of aggressively posting about whatever they're interested in until they follow you, then blocking immediately them?
Whenever I see Yglesias' name, I think about when his old podcast featured a discussion of one of my papers, & he completely misunderstood the argument.
The other two hosts totally got it & were like what are you talking about, and he just diligently plowed forward confidently in ignorance.
Sign at a hockey rink: "Please remember, they are kids; this is a game; coaches are volunteers; refs are human; your kid does not play for the Wild. Thank you South St. Paul Youth Hockey Association"
Hockey parents are the best.
It's aggravating. Those in positions to shine the brightest lights opt instead to put out formulaic talking points and act as if this is just another issue. MN electeds should be holding frequent pressers, rallying their caucus in DC, and talking to anyone who will listen about what's happening.

As a McCollum constituent, I can't believe she doesn't regularly face credible primary challengers.
Name a single McCollum signature issue or bill from her 25 year tenure. I'll wait.
Sometimes very hard not to feel like the rest of the country has abandoned Minnesota. We STILL have ICE everywhere. Our schools, businesses, and economy are in profound crisis. But without Bovino here throwing tear gas, much of the country seems to not care at all whatβs being done to us.
I would like to repeat my suggestion that @ag.state.mn.us go on a hiring spree.
