The Halloween dad tax was heavy this year. Benefit of chocolate being expensive is a plethora of red packet Skittles (the only true and living Skittles on the face of the earth), and the children know the dad tax has to be paid.
Can’t figure out which part I hate the least - those willing to spend $25.00 for this, to skip the line, or those trying to sell it for $25.00 because they know someone will buy it.
There’s the “what” of the motivation, and the “why” of the motivation, and we want the “why”
I can tell you that all of us out here desperately want to know a lot more, with more background as to the tick-tock of how the attacker mentally go to that point, and more importantly, how he got to the point of planning out his attack.
So it’s not like a ton of people knew about us, or we were always talked about, or it was ever-present in people’s minds like in places like UT, ID, or elsewhere. Or even that there was a ton of aggressive anti-Mormon rhetoric like what used to happen in other parts of the US (think Deep South)
For example. It was a very isolated incident, both the attacker and the fact that Mormons out here in Michigan are a minority of a minority. On avg, our wards in MI span 30 min (20 mi) end-to-end. Our stake is ~90 min to drive end-to-end
Quick note: This is my stake. I’ve been going here my whole life. I live 40 minutes away. I know the victims personally.
We knew this, this just officially confirms it. However, there’s degrees of the whole thing, as weird as that sounds.

Instead of bluntly banging on about how more babies need to be born, maybe the church could advocate a lot more for pro-natal federal and state policies to promote an environment where people will want to have more kids.
