It's honestly kind of wild that my novella ended up in a couple libraries considering that halfway through there is a drawing of a shirtless non-op trans man in it.

But readers who haven't read enough adult lit get stuck in this mindset of "not seeing how it can add to a story" bc they're too used to media having to be pg13 basically

I think where a lot of this comes from is people who got stuck in YA books and did not fully move onto adult lit, bc in all varieties of adult lit, sex is just treated as another plot beat, even in books that aren't romance

This conversation is kinda interesting to me bc I don't care for romance or even erotica 90% of the time, but I still read it a ton bc it just unlocks more trans books for me. And yeah it's like almost always relevant to the character growth or stakes for the climax
