Update: Chris Marlow, original voice of the Great Mighty Poo who still works at Rare today as a software engineer, has also clarified that the artwork was done by Pete Hentze.

Given what we know about Micros*ft and AI, I can't blame anyone for jumping the gun on thinking Rare had just said "fuck artists". The more I thought about it, the less sense it made, however. Last year, two of my friends made beautiful artwork for their 40th anniversary. It didn't make any sense.

Nope, it was drawn by the one and only Pete Hentze. He was the concept artist on Conker Live and Reloaded.

Yesterday, I made a post saying that Rare's new Conker BFD remix had GenAI-made cover artwork. I've deleted it since Robin Beanland himself has clarified it was done by Pete Hentze, original concept artist behind Live and Reloaded. Looks like this was a false alarm!

This is a large pixel art piece that is a crossover between the Super Mario Bros franchise and One Piece. The going merry has been shrunk down and now has a Yoshi head as the figurehead with Mario at the front of the ship, he is dressed as Luffy in an excited pose ready for adventure. admittedly I haven't played too many non-Sonic Game Gear games so instead I'll say that 8-Bit Sonic 1 is my personal favorite game in Sonic's GG lineup. It was developed by Ancient, Yuzo Koshiro's studio. And he even did the music as well!
