I have been observing a pattern.

Some people weaponise DEI to advance their own careers and positions, in contrast to pursuing DEI to support *others*.

I have been tricked by this, now at least 3 times (and possibly more often, unnoticed by me).

I am trying to learn how to spot this earlier.

Democrats are on the path to winning this year, but it is by default. The party has done a horrific job on politics from almost the minute Trump was defeated in 2020. So, sure, they are winning right now — but it’s because we have no other choices. Not exactly a ringing endorsement.
