Nuremberg 2.0 is a compelling campaign promise.

I agree! I can say that several people have been working on getting that rolling for years, but there are just so many conservadems in the party it's hard to overcome. Seriously, more people just voting and supporting organized efforts to bring the party more in line with the people would be HUGE

It was a fun time! Good to see you there!

and while you dont have to be a county level PCP to get involved with the democratic party of oregon, i'd say it's the easiest way to get in and actually vote on what the party stands for.

being a Precinct Committee Person is as much of a commitment as you want it to be, but you can pour yourself into it and make some real change behind the scenes and creating a party that supports good candidates. It is very "work within the system to change the system" but you can make changes!

Big support for @nwpinpdx.bsky.social. I've known him for a few years and he would make an EXCELLENT legislator!

if you are registered dem, consider filing to be a PCP and working on shifting your county party to the left outside of election season. It's a very "marathon, not a sprint" thing, but you gotta build infrastructure when we're not having elections and this is how you do it.

sure, but linux desktop is a whole different beast. It's actually not all that bad. I think people make a lot of mountains out of molehills.

Oh, yeah, bonus feature I've done that's displayed in the above image is colored tile lighting! It works really well in with the sky light!

So I'm tracing the sun and building a lightmap from 5 different angles and simply blending between them based on time of day, using a pretty simple gradient to color the light form the sky!

My main motivation is to solve a problem Minecraft and similar games have in which light is cast straight down from the top of the sky, which means sky islands and large mountain overhangs cast these infinite shadows. You can see the sun rise and set, and it wont illuminate the area around you!

Im still working on the lightmap boundaries (they currently end at the chunk boundary here, which is why they get full bright so quickly), but the inside chunk spaces are darkened in the "morning" because the sun is behind the terrain here! It's casting a shadow!

Still working on this #godot stuff, but I'm trying to build a tile game with actual time of day and shadows, along with colored block lighting. I'm tracing several sun angles to build a lightmap and then blending between those brightness values to sample into a sky light color texture

Having also worked with extremely principled engineers, many of those principles take a back seat to having a secure job and health care. Especially if those engineers have kids. Engineers slowly burning out because they ethically disagree with the shit their company pulls is extremely common.

hi, I worked in indie games for 10 years and sorry, they're also burning down. you just don't hear about it because it doesn't make the news when a studio of 19 lays off 7, even when it's 200 small studios doing that

I mean, they have a profit motive which they see dry up if their potential customers get pissed at them powering autonomous kill drones. That kinda looks like principles here but it's probably not.

Where/Who posted this study? I want to read more of it.

I know someone is going to ask my county Dem party to endorse it, but I honestly don't see how this competes for attention with several high profile legislative primaries, the washco board chair (and several other seats), and things like the THPRD bond levy.

I know I don't want to fight for it.

04.02.2026 08:05 ๐Ÿ‘ 1 ๐Ÿ” 0 ๐Ÿ’ฌ 0 ๐Ÿ“Œ 0

I'm sure _someone_ is going to fight for it... but this bill? Really? It fixed nothing and was a compromise nobody liked.
