Which is also contradictory to her point, I remember both my parents knew about Project 2025 the first time I brought it up
"I'm not into saying 'I told you so' β but we did see it coming."
Really wish she'd stop manipulating what the "told you so" is, but yes we did see it coming
It would be a banger senior thesis
I'm not sure if/when in regard to Obama but I do hear it used a lot in the US
Are you not American?
The Croatian Partisans, officially the National Liberation Movement in Croatia (Croatian: NarodnooslobodilaΔki pokret u Hrvatskoj; NOP), were part of the anti-fascist National Liberational Movement in the Axis-occupied Yugoslavia which was "perhaps Europe's most effective anti-Nazi resistance movement".[5][6] It was led by Yugoslav revolutionary communists during the World War II.[7] NOP was under the leadership of the League of Communists of Yugoslavia (KPJ) and supported by many others, with Croatian Peasant Party members contributing to it significantly. NOP units were able to temporarily or permanently liberate large parts of Croatia from occupying forces.

how your post finds me
Yeah two things at once. If I lived in NY I'd be pressuring the state legislature foremost, unless you prefer the property tax route for some reason
Make them think you'll blame them for the funding cut. Support for Zohran has created this leverage to raise taxes on the rich
That's in the projected budget and it'll change when either NY raises taxes on the wealthy or when Zohran raises NYC property tax. The tax on the wealthy affects 30k people, the property tax affects 5mil people, so it makes sense to put this on the state first. Budget is final in 4 months or so
My dad has treated me like a bandwagoner since 1992, I was 8 years old
Happy birthday Toby! Enjoy your day π₯³
After Tito lit up his cigar and began to enjoy it, the astonished President Nixon said: "Mr. President, we don't smoke here in the White House." Tito looked at him, continued to smoke, laughed and quipped: "Lucky you!" President Nixon didn't bring up the smoking ban again, and Tito smoked the rest of his cigar unhampered.
Photo of Igor Tudor in Spurs gear at training, report he was asked if he's enjoyed his first few days at Spurs: "I didn't enjoy because I'm not here to enjoy. I'm here to work. It's the first moment and there's work to do. It's a privilege to be here."
Joy??? London is so greedy
Why would it be complacent to pressure the state leg?
Wait to put blame on Zohran until after we know if he gets the state leg to pass a tax increase
You also see I was replying in the context of Zohran's entire strategy being questioned. I know the Substack author who quoted me reframed it as "telling librarians to wait" but it's 2027 budget anyway
Wouldn't I be pressuring the state leg in this scenario? I've only said it like 4 times now lol
I only "explained" things you seemed to not be considering
IMO this is Zohran keeping his promises. Now is the time to pressure the state legislature, make sure they know it's on them whether it's 5mil affected or 33k. Zohran did this so NY gets the 33k way. If not, then Z failed, light his ass up
Taxes. To pay for many of his priorities, Mamdani has proposed raising income taxes on New Yorkers who earn more than $1 million a year by two percentage points to help fund some of his ambitious proposals. He also proposes raising the stateβs highest corporate tax rate from 7.25% to 11.5%. The mayor does not have the power to increase taxes unilaterally. Indeed, the City itself does not have the power to impose new taxes or increase existing ones without the approval of the State Legislature and the governor, with the notable exception of the local property tax, which requires only the approval of the mayor and City Council.
Zohran was open about needing the state leg (article snippet is pre-election, this topic was everywhere). The alternative is Zohran raise property tax affecting 5 million people, the tax increase would affect only 33k people. It's on the state leg, affect 5mil or 33k, Zohran can only do the 5mil way
I suggest pressuring politicians in the skeet you replied to
Okay, I'm no NY expert. From what I've consumed so far the leverage Zohran has with the state leg is his popularity. If you pressure the state legislature to pass a tax increase while Zohran has leverage, the libraries will get money. If that fails then no question it's on Zohran. This is The Plan β’οΈ
NYC libraries get the 0.5% if that governor signs a tax increase. Maybe wait to see if they do? It has always been known his promises need the state legislature to play ball
I recommend updating to the latest version if you have the storage space
