The primary time sink in programming is identifying the problem and designing the solution for that problem. Sure, you run around for a while in a code editor and quash bugs, add a semicolon you forgot, etc, but when you have a clear path forward you write the code to spec.

i really can not emphasize enough that the most materially impactful thing you can do for trans people right now is hire them.
I'm only linking this to point out the historical parallels, not fearmonger that we are in 1:1 the same situation with the same outcome, but ...

The threat of arrest for trans people is an implicit threat of rape. This is what happens to incarcerated trans women.
I don't even see why they need to have your gender mentioned on IDs or documents at all. They've got a photo. Maybe in cases where people report they saw someone who looks to be said gender, but in that case, that would make identification harder, if they labeled trans people as their birth gender.

Other states should offer sanctuary by passing legislation to allow trans people to apply for a driver's license even with a suspended license in KS, provided the reason for the suspension was this anti-trans law.
Because of the National driver register, since their licenses are suspended, trans folks cannot move to another state and get a new license until they remove the suspension on their existing Kansas license.
They can't even escape this by moving to another state.
And any trans person arrested under this will be placed in units of their sex assigned at birth. For trans women, this means v coding, rape, and sexual assault. They'll also be denied access to hormones and forced to detransition. I can't begin to tell you just how cruel all this is.
