Think of it the other way, US political establishment's view of Ukrainians as commies was grounded in people like Kuchma.
Poroshenko's image doesn't help in that case.
At some point, both Poroshenko and Zelenskyy will receive their portion of critics for internal policies. But not now.
Poroshenko is an old-school politician, he can speak of course, but you would roughly know what he has to say even before he speaks.
Zelenskyy is a professional media person. He made Ukraine popular even before the full-scale invasion. There was an inflow of international tourists.
People keep saying anti-immigrant policies are bad. They went after every minority at once, saw what gained traction, and leaned all in.
Now, they disappear, jail, and murder mainly immigrants. But in the future, any journalist, protester, or teacher will be labeled an 'immigrant' or 'supporter.'

Switched to degoogled LineageOS as my daily driver. As someone who ran Linux on a laptop in 2005, I'm seriously impressed by the current state of open source.

I see movements are hyper-fragmented. Some want ICE out, others want investigations, others are just memeing.
How are you going to negotiate your demands? Do you have support from your representatives in opposition?

When the system starts feeding on its most vulnerable, the middle class eventually falls behind too (inflation, housing crisis, decreasing salaries, etc.).
Economic suppression isn't just a byproduct; it's the bridge to apartheid and violence.
Itโs not just immigrants, Republicans are attacking all vulnerable groups โ LGBTQ, people of color, homeless people, etc.

Saying "US under Trump" misses the point. Slow-walking aid was the strategy long before he returned. The fact that no policymakers actually stand up to him shows a coherent, bipartisan foreign policy: weaken the EU while promoting the interests of US donors and businesses.
The only valid response to the US at this point is to quote a certain Kellogg US govt official then act accordingly.
