New grad students often adopt a stance of hypercriticism as a shortcut to seeming savvy.
When I was one, Nick Salvatore told us he didn't like "shit-on-the-book seminars" so we would instead spend our time talking about what *worked* in various texts to see what we could learn from other authors.
Nice argument, Hussite.
however, I have already depicted myself wearing sunglasses and gambling
As we shared on Saturday, LAX is moving forward with a proposal to more than double the fees you pay for rideshare trips at the airportβand the final vote is tomorrow, March 10. We invite you to join us in person at the board meeting tomorrow morning to voice your concerns before the vote. If this proposal passes, the fee for a pickup or drop-off at the terminal curb will jump from $5 to $12 per trip, making LAX fees the most expensive in the world. This goes straight to the airportsβnot to drivers, and not to Uber. This hike is being rushed through with little notice and without a meaningful public process. We need your help to stop this. Please consider showing up in person at the board meeting tomorrow to share how this increase will affect you. Your presence can make a difference in keeping LA affordable for everyone. When: Tuesday, March 10 at 10:00 AM Where: Clifton A. Moore Administration Building Samuel Greenberg Board Room 107/116 at Los Angeles International Airport Canβt make it in person? You can still take action by emailing LAX officials directly through the link below before tomorrowβs meeting. Take Action
LAX Airport Fee Increase Proposal Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is considering a significant increase in rideshare access fees. Currently, riders pay a $5 fee each way for LAX curbside pick-up/drop-off. LAX has proposed raising this fee significantly- to $12 for a pick up or drop off at the curb. By comparison, other similarly sized airports around the country collect, on average, per-trip fees of just $4.25. A steep increase would make airport rides less affordable for many passengers and could result in fewer trips for drivers. The Airport board is planning to vote on this proposal on March 10, with no input from riders or drivers. Help us advocate for affordable airport access. Add to the message below to LA lawmakers and the LA Airport board and tell them how less affordable rides would impact you.
Uber, an LA28 partner, is trying to get users to show up to an LAX board meeting this morning to protest raising the fees you pay for getting dropped off in the horseshoe from $5 to $12.
This is a good and necessary change to reduce congestion in the horseshoe and fund LAX transit improvements
This doesn't prove the pieces were found at the site of the school.
We know of at least one other Tomahawk missile hit nearby, and it wouldn't take much move the parts to the school.
Still it's interesting the Iranians are providing the extra context for verification.

Yesterday afternoon, Iranian state media published photos of what it says are missile parts from the weapon that struck the school in Minab.
The images are notable not just for the parts they show, but for how they show them.
Let me explain...
A graph of gas prices climbing precipitously starting in 2003
Apropos of nothing, when we invaded Iraq gas prices rose precipitously, and they never came back down to prewar levels, ever.

striking photo of a black and white tuxedo cat. The entire photo is almost entirely a velvety black except a curving line of white fur and the cat's gold eye which are illuminated by a sliver of sunbeam.
Stunning portrait of The Morsel by my boyfriend.

Trump did not announce a U.S. policy then walk it back. That is not what happened, and media presenting it that way does a disservice.
Trump said words he thought might appeal to his audience in the moment, with no connection to actual policy, then did that again with a different question/asker.
Imagine the reaction in the US if ~175 schoolgirls had been killed by a targeted Iranian missile. (Or anyone's missile.)
This is an atrocity.

Two cactus wrens sitting atop a chollo.
I love the way these cactus wrens (photographed today) have a safe shelter inside a chollo catcus where they built their elaborate nest.
I stand corrected: not actually the finale? Which is good because I was gonna be irritated if we wrapped up season one without seeing Thok again
Between this season and the entire run of Strange New Worlds, I think there's a strong case to be made that the best thing to happen to Trek in the last decade was letting comedy writers have a swing at it
This is not a complaint this is highest praise
