WILD March we are having.
And the Cold Weather Shelter will be open Saturday night! It's uncanny to drive there while it's still light out. I'm glad we can be open to help people stay warm and dry.

There is a legit quidditch -> circus pipeline in Seattle... which is very appropriate for all involved.
FUCKING HELL GET IN www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
Huh! I didn't see this coming lol.
The cold weather shelter didn't open last night -- the last time we were open was Monday. I hope our guests are all okay.
It's snowing in Edmonds this morning.... March is weird! #wawx
I met with AI data labelers in Kenya who are organizing their colleagues to fight the brutal working conditions and horrible pay given to the workers at the "bottom of the AI supply chain." They believe the NDAs they've signed are unenforceable so are speaking out:

Huh this is how I found out that the star of the OC wrote a book about crypto. Great trailer!
Reading this over my morning tea is a delight!
I'm rereading the first Murderbot book since the show came out and I seem to have completely forgotten what the world used to look like in my head! It's all the TV actors and sets now.
the "just asking questions" to "legitimate questions about fairness in sports" to "the state doesn't have to consider us as real people" pipeline working exactly as designed.

Everything Carly writes here is correct. There's a reason I and a number of others have basically given up on trying to place fandom coverage in mainstream pubs. And I'm hopeful that we get at least a decent level of subscriber support for @fansplaining.bsky.social to try to help remedy this! BUTβ

Growing up this is how I enjoyed them, after the sandwich had been slathered in butter and grilled on the stove. Mmm. It was my go to restaurant meal for ages too.
Is it just me or is Justice Kavanaugh's dissent in the tariffs decision nakedly partisan?
This is THEEEE year for Seattle sports!
Sports esp hockey! I wasn't able to watch USA vs Canada live but I'm hoping to catch the replay later.
I've always said the biggest problem with journalism is that it isn't a gambling addiction
I had a hoot talking to fellow goth millennial and confirmed cutie patootie jamie campbell bower about his fav records for @thequietus.com!
But this is another activist talking point that has begun to crumble. In front of the Supreme Court, the ACLUβs Chase Strangio conceded that there was no evidence to support the assertion that transition prevents suicide, because βcompleted suicide, thankfully and admittedly, is rare.β He argued that instead it reduced suicidal thoughtsβa significant climbdown from the once-popular assertion that parents had to choose between βa dead son and a living daughter,β and vice versa. His concession helped expose this rhetoric as the emotional blackmail that it always was.
This is not the gotcha the Atlantic apparently thinks it is!!

I've struggled with mental health issues nearly my whole life, and I've never encountered a loved one or a medical professional would who just shrug or brush off concerns or improvements when it came to suicidal ideations!!! If the ideations stop, that is a BIG WIN.
I'm reading the Atlantic's latest article on gender affirming care and I STILL cannot help wincing at the supposed concession that an ACLU lawyer made before the Supreme Court, that technically this treatment doesn't prevent suicides but it prevents suicidal thoughts... THAT IS A GOOD THING IMO.
People line up on a sidewalk at dusk in a line, holding lighted candles.
Happening now on 50th Street in Minneapolis. Lined up over a ten block stretch.
Read the piece that made a stranger in a pub ask me last week if I was a reporter!
(I told him yes but only in the broadest sense of the word)
Maybe it's cold in my office but this drawing gave me chills! That's so good.

PubliCola confirmed this morning that the city settled with Jaahnavi Kandula's family for $29,011,000. The added $11,000, which the family requested in their lawsuit, is a reference to then-police guild vice president Daniel Auderer's "joke" that Kandula's life was only worth that much.
