Good night, friends. 💚
Photo of the CDC memorial honoring employees who gave their lives in the service of public health. The memorial features a curved, perforated metal surface with a raised CDC logo in the center. Attached nameplates include ‘Diane Berry Caves,’ ‘George Flowers,’ ‘Roger Dublingon,’ and ‘Officer David Rose.’ In the background, a dark wall displays the inscription: ‘In Honor of Those Employees of CDC Who Gave Their Lives in the Service of the Public’s Health.’
Officer David Rose, 33, a former Marine and DeKalb County officer, has been added to CDC’s memorial plaque, honoring those who gave their lives in service of public health. He died protecting our CDC campus, staff, and contractors during a 2025 act of domestic terrorism fueled by misinformation.

Public comments become part of the official rulemaking record and can influence whether a rule changes or moves forward.
Deadline: Mar 12, 2026
Explainer + sample comment language:
www.themindfulfederalemployee.com/blog/opm-s-p...
(3/4)
The proposed rule would move those appeals inside the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) and limit other review routes.
That concentrates power in one agency and weakens independent checks meant to protect a nonpartisan civil service.
(2/4)
Right now, federal workers affected by RIFs (reductions in force = layoffs) can appeal to the independent Merit Systems Protection Board, which reviews whether the government followed civil service law and protections against political firing.
🚨 Public comment needed by Mar 12 🚨 (1/4)
A proposed federal rule would move appeals of government layoffs (RIFs) out of an independent board and into the same agency running the layoffs.

2/2 NYC is investing $1M in a 4-week campaign across TV, radio, print, LinkNYC kiosks, and transit--focused on neighborhoods with lower vaccination coverage.
Clear messaging. Trusted clinicians. Meeting communities where they are.

1/2 Great vaccine communication from the NYC Health Department.
Their “Ask Questions, Get Answers, Vaccinate” campaign encourages parents to talk with their child’s doctor and get trusted answers about childhood vaccines.
Public health done right. 👏
Infographic titled “Measles vaccine recommendations for non-pregnant adults aged 19 years and older by birth year — United States.” It shows a flowchart divided into two columns: adults born before 1957 (left) and adults born in 1957 or later (right). Left column (born before 1957): If not healthcare personnel, no MMR doses are needed. If healthcare personnel, check for documentation of 2 doses of live measles-containing vaccine (such as MMR), laboratory evidence of immunity, or laboratory confirmation of disease. If documented, no doses are needed. If not documented or vaccination history is unknown, consider 2 MMR doses at least 28 days apart; during outbreaks, give 2 doses 28 days apart. Right column (born in 1957 or later): First, determine if the person is healthcare personnel, an international traveler, a post-secondary student, a close contact of immunocompromised people, or a person with HIV without severe immunosuppression. If yes, check for documentation of 2 doses or evidence of immunity/disease. If documented, no doses are needed. If not documented or history unknown, give 2 MMR doses at least 28 days apart (or give a second dose if only 1 prior dose). If no to those risk groups, check for documentation of at least 1 dose or evidence of immunity/disease. If documented, no doses are needed. If not, give 1 dose of MMR vaccine.

The report specifically does not evaluate the community water fluoridation guidelines for prevention of dental caries.
Community water fluoridation is recommended at 0.7mg/dl: to maximize oral health benefits while minimizing risk of enamel fluorosis.
This report’s goal is to make sure the set levels for MCLG/SMCL are adequate to protect public health against any toxicities at very high levels. And they did recommend lowering the MCLG to prevent severe enamel fluorosis (tooth discoloration and enamel loss.) 👇
C. Community water fluoridation for dental health:recommended at 0.7 mg/L
This is far lower than max contaminant level goal (MCLG) (4mg/L) &secondary max contaminant level (SMCL) (2 mg/L) discussed in this report. (Basically, the highest amount of fluoride FDA would approve of being added to water)👇
Hi! Ok, can you share more about your claim that fluoride is a highly toxic substance? I skimmed through the summary section of the report you provide.
Some conclusions:
A. this is from 2006 so it’s pretty old.
B. The summary doesn’t bring up any “highly toxic” concerns.
Also C. 👇
🤞🤞🤞
Please share more as I'd be curious to learn more about the differences in these communities. Fluoridating the water supply is only one strategy of many. Are the communities with worse dental outcomes poorer ? Can ppl afford regular dental care?
Agree. There's a dearth of affordable dental care in our country. Getting rid of fluoride will only make our dental crisis worse.
Infographic titled “Viruses or Bacteria: What’s got you sick?” from CDC’s “Be Antibiotics Aware: Smart Use, Best Care” campaign. A table lists common respiratory infections, their usual cause (virus, virus or bacteria, or bacteria), and whether antibiotics are needed. Rows show: Common cold/runny nose — Virus — Antibiotics: No Sore throat (except strep) — Virus — No COVID-19 — Virus — No Flu — Virus — No Bronchitis/chest cold (in otherwise healthy children and adults) — Virus or bacteria — No (note: antibiotics don’t help in these cases) Middle ear infection — Virus or bacteria — Maybe Sinus infection — Virus or bacteria — Maybe Strep throat — Bacteria — Yes Whooping cough — Bacteria — Yes A note states that antiviral drugs are available for some viral infections such as COVID-19 or flu, and that antibiotics do not help bronchitis in otherwise healthy people. Did you know:
Because it helped drive a dramatic decline in tooth decay, the CDC named community water fluoridation one of the 10 great public health achievements of the 20th century. (Wow!)

Spotted in the break room: a small resistance sticker on the bulletin board. 🥄

“Unlikely to have population-level impacts” ?? LOL sure, Andy 🙄
Sounds like Andy should perhaps return to grad school, and oh idk maybe get a basic and fundamental understanding of public health before providing comment next time. 😒
After Yam Tits said Tylenol may cause Autism if taken during pregnancy, a new Lancet study found pregnant patients’ use of the drug in the ER dropped by ~10%, even though scientists have said repeatedly there’s no clear evidence of a causal link.
Words matter, even if from an untrustworthy Buffon🍊🤡
The FDA is convening fewer outside expert advisory panels, even as it makes big and controversial drug decisions.
This means less public debate and oversight. Is this the “radical transparency” RFK Jr. promised? 🔍 👀
Spare me. Bring back the qualified experts. Get rid of the petulant toddlers. 😒
