On March 11 we commemorate the day in 1875 when Jennie Trout became the first formally licenced female doctor in Canada.

I wrote this for @healthydebate.bsky.social in 2024 to celebrate CWPD and it's a fun piece to share every year.

MAHA-aligned research is entering the training data of AI models that millions of people (and increasingly governments) rely on.

The immune system is not a muscle.

It is a cleansing fire.

It causes collateral damage.

It has a limited supply of fuel.

It can get out of control.

Don’t burn your whole house down every time by catching every disease without caution.

Thrilled to share an update on my book!

I wrote about wellness culture, women's health, and the history & politics of both.

Have you wondered why the wellness industry is ♀️ dominated? Or why COVID seemed to push wellness culture to the far right?

I explore this and more - coming out early 2027.

Since (MIS)Treated launched 6 months ago, we've covered endometriosis, fibroids, PCOS, Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, ADHD, Alzheimer's & more. It's clear women's health is not a niche issue. If we don't have good health, it makes it much harder to “lean in" or be our best selves. Women's health matters.

If Ontario has money to build Ford Island then we have money to provide non-verbal students who elope with 1:1 Educational Assistant support to keep them safe.

Obviously this is the goal: legitimize anti-science wellness culture through medical education. The profit potential is huge.

This is just a plan to more effectively insert doctors into the wellness grift economy.

Functional medicine rotations will teach med students how to incorporate wellness scams into their future practices.

IMO this is the question we should always be asking when it comes to privatized health care - especially for historically stigmatized issues like menopause.

I actually bought the glove wrist straps for myself for skiing, but then I ended up giving them to 9 because *ironically* I thought he would be less likely to lose them. Sigh.

He lost the wrist straps too. 😭

Idk why he took them off in the first place but that's what this kid is like.

Now he's making sad eyes at me because he's the baby and knows how to make the cuteness work for him.

There has never been a kid so prone to losing his gloves as my 9 yr old. It's like they fly off into the nether world as soon as he puts them on. 😮‍💨

Yes... who will "fill the void" of milquetoast middle-aged man with a deep sense of entitlement who starts an affair with a subordinate while in office? There are so few men like that in politics.
