Fundraising off a picture of the dignified transfer of fallen US soldiers. This is obscene.

I feel like it should be more widely unpopular that in the past year we’ve witnessed the creation of an American Stasi required to meet arrest quotas who utilize an AI technology created by a company run by a sweaty raisin of a billionaire who thinks Greta Thunberg is the antichrist.
No joke, I think this might be one of the most important roles for tech-savvy Millennials/Gen Xers.
We caught a glimpse of an amazing world, one that was almost entirely free of corporate or political influence because the suits hadn’t caught on yet. We could talk with ANYONE in an age of landlines
Today is the 36th anniversary of the Capitol Crawl and disabled people are still fighting for basic rights in a society that's actively working to undermine them, surrounded by systemic disablism.
(This is a corrected thread TY to the person who flagged that I said 26th, not 36th!)
yeah same
Scene where someone is sitting on a bench outside reading a newspaper where the headline reads "NCC reports critical lesbian shortage: fringe festival in jeopardy", underneath which is a triangle chart labeled "Express lesbian crisis graph".
It did have one of the great opening scenes of all time though:
It had random low-budget hilarity, like the fight in the park where the same 4 actors came out of a car again and again in new costumes to look like new characters, but it just dragged on sooooo much. We were watching it and someone said "how much is left" and we were 15 minutes into it.
The secretary of Miami-Dade County’s GOP started a group chat for conservative students — and within 3 weeks, it was filled with over 400 instances of the N-word, Nazi rhetoric and writings of "dozens of ways of violently killing Black people"
"How can you oppose war when Khamenei was evil?"
Simple. If you killed Donald Trump by nuking Washington DC, I would not mourn Trump but I'd still say you're an evil war criminal who belongs in the Hague. It's really not hard.
Breaking MS NOW:
Agents with the FBI's elite evidence response team were delayed in reaching the scene of a mass shooting at Brown U. in December because there was no FBI plane available.
Kash Patel was in south Florida at the time with one of the FBI's two available jets.
BREAKING NYT:
The husband of Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer has been barred from the department's headquarters after at least two female staff members told officials that he had sexually assaulted them, according to people familiar with the decision and a police report obtained by The Times.
Yesterday, those who teach Intro to Sociology at Florida colleges (as opposed to universities) received a ready-made curriculum from the state and were ordered to teach it.
Yes, you read that correctly. The *state* is enforcing a curriculum on college profs, complete w/ the following restrictions:
Cops are great
Also: guillotines are the moderate solution
#lawsky we need your help. The deluge of insane legal news is hard to keep up with and we could really use more senior level people willing to donate 3-5 hours a week editing profiles so we can build this out.

Bob Kuttner has some news here: Democrats offered to fund all of DHS except ICE and CBP, while negotiations continued on reforms. Republicans rejected that.

Just cloned Stand With Minnesota for another state.
I am so excited someone finally took me up on the offer. I even made them a little logo and redid the site in their colors.
Treatment for preeclampsia. Would be huge if results hold up.
Over 800,000 people globally have died since Trump cut USAID. Over 500,000 of them have been children.
All so people like Christian Nationalist and author of Project 2025, Russ Vought can have millions of it spent on his security detail.
Currently, the outrage to the visible contents of the Epstein files is so mild that I have to think the majority of people just aren't even casually checking them. I can't think of a phrase to describe what I've read even as a forensic analyst. "Cartoonishly evil" is too gentle. Horrific. Inhuman.
Thus, rather than require such adjudications, the Department is changing its regulations to provide the Board more flexibility in reviewing appeals. Instead, for appeals taken from decisions issued after this IF becomes effective, as explained in Section IV.A of this preamble, the default will be summary dismissal unless a majority of current Board members vote to consider the appeal on the merits. And such dismissals will occur quickly—within 15 days of filing the appeal—allowing aliens to seek Federal court review expeditiously, rather than potentially waiting for years for a Board decision that in the vast majority of cases would affirm the underlying Immigration Judge decision.
🚨HOLY CRAP. The Trump admin just took a SLEDGEHAMMER to due process, largely eliminating the Board of Immigration Appeals process and MANDATING DISMISSAL of ALL appeals (which cost $1,000 thanks to OBBBA) filed after tomorrow unless a majority of the BIA votes to hear the case.
I worked in telecom cybersecurity until a few years ago. Congress should do everything they can to get the Mandiant and Verizon assessments.
happening this morning in Minneapolis -- ICE agents drawing guns on observers. I reiterate again that it is only a matter of time before DHS kills more innocent people in Minnesota. Congress needs to shut this shit down right now.
I agree that "opsec" is often used a shibboleth in leftist spaces to justify gatekeeping.
At the same time, prosecutors move slowly and they WILL raid your fucking house out of the blue a year later.
Don't assume the feds are stupid or not paying attention just because "everyone's been out there".
"A 2-year-old boy was breastfeeding in detention. One 6-year-old boy had leukemia. An 8-year-old girl began wetting the bed. A 14-year-old girl engaged in self-harm...None of these children or their parents had a criminal history anywhere in the world."

It's hard to overstate how ell-organized the portland march that got gassed was... organizers made the crowd promise to be peaceful, said the march would slow in front of the ICE building but not stop, that we would stick to one chant (ICE Out). They did absolutely everything right and got gassed.
Ms. Omar, visibly shaken after the assault, insisted to her staff and security that she would continue. She asked for a napkin and told them: "Just give me 10 minutes. I beg you. Please don't let them have the show." Ms. Omar then turned the crowd. "Here's the reality that people like this ugly man don't understand," she said. "We are Minnesota strong, and we will stay resilient in the face of whatever they might throw at us." Someone in the crowd later thanked Ms. Omar for staying and continuing after the assault, which had shaken not only her but the entire room. "I learned at a young age you don't give in to threats," Ms. Omar said.
