Republicans Target Social Sciences to Curb Ideas They Don’t Like Conservatives in Florida have moved from explosive politics to subtler tactics to uproot liberal “indoctrination” in higher education by removing subjects like sociology from core requirements.

Elimination by starvation. Republican legislators may not be shuttering Sociology programs (yet), but restrictions on what can be taught and what subjects can count for gen ed credit are forcing programs to cut courses and driving students elsewhere for majors.
