"I don't want to have to explain to my kids what gay people are" is ridiculous. You have to explain everything to them! They've never seen anything before! What else are you doing this about? You don't like broccoli so you just refuse to ever let your child know about what broccoli is? Okay man
(incidentally, their movies started to get interesting again when they started trying their hand at coming-of-age movies centering tween characters a few years ago!! and those are exactly the films that the studio is now backpedaling on and calling "too divisive" and "not broadly appealing")
capitulating to the anti-gay "my child is my property" crowd feels like an unfortunate outgrowth of the same company culture that so often chooses to tell stories about children from the perspective of their caretakers
I'm being harsh here because Pixar's output was pretty foundational to me growing up! I think there's actually a lot value in emotionally cathartic media for kids! But something I grow more and more tired of is the way their stories have often centered adult perspectives on childhood
inside out 2 is what i'm thinking of haha
(and for the record: it was pretty alright π)
they made a movie about grounding techniques for how to handle an anxiety attack
"we're making a movie, not therapy" is a really funny line from the company whose entire story philosophy is to hinge every film on a cheap 5 minute tear jerker scene so you don't remember that most of it is pop culture jokes for dads
video games are so good
i think the US has genuinely tried to put forward that narrative, yeah

i know many gretas in my life and it's a treat that she gets to be silly and stupid and look funny
no she's awesome. to be sincere, I think she reflects the same commitment to cartooning about the world as we experience it (and not as it was depicted in media 50 years ago) that your flatscreen tvs and roombas do
i like the new hidden role mechanic they've added to email jobs, where now you have to suss out whether people are reading your 5 sentence emails, or if they're just reading a 4 sentence ai summary of your 5 sentence emails
this is exactly my experience too
not sure if this is true on iOS, but there are places in the macOS UI where the title of a window and the text it contains will overlap, with transparency and blur, making both completely unreadable ππ
ux design is my passion
A sharpie acrylic painting of several cave-painting-esque chubby horses in different positions. Sitting, laying down, bucking, rolling around and walking on pink paper with red borders.
Chubby horses are everything to me.

PANEL 1: The IMPORTANT PUNDIT is standing on a soapbox with a megaphone on the street. One or two people are watching. He motions with his thumb behind himself. PUNDIT: Hello! WHAT IF Mattie had all of "her" skin ripped off in one big piece like a clementine? PUNDIT: This is "its" house by the way! PANEL 2: MATTIE, sitting on her couch with a book. The voice from the megaphone comes from outside. VO: What if someone did that. Just if anyone has a big knife, for doing the thing I talked about. I'm just wondering aloud! PANEL 3: MATTIE leans out the window, yelling. MATTIE: Get bent, asshole! PANEL 4: Back on the PUNDIT. everyone is raising a knife of some sort. PUNDIT: Can you believe that language? PERSON IN CROWD: SO uncivil. PERSON IN CROWD: Let's go up there with our blades
