Saturday highlight - late winter patrol, probably in the Wissembourg-Haguenau area along the border. Such winter camouflage would have been improvised at the regiment or division-level, since there was little provision for snow gear outside the mountaineer and ski units.

"China has spent decades and hundreds of billions of dollars investing in electric vehicles and renewable energy, a long-term strategy that is paying off as other countries grapple with upheavals in the oil market."

Rare to meet a flying boat I don't like and this is an impressive giant.
#OnThisDay 13 March 1945: Flight of the Latรฉcoรจre 631 in Biscarrosse, Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Ordered in 1938, the six-engined flying boat was the largest ever designed. The first prototype was seized by the Germans, and destroyed by RAF Mosquitoes.

Iโm really not a fan of โwhere are the student protesters?โ discourse. You probably donโt see as much because university administrators, law-enforcement at all levels, many state govts, and the current federal govt have made it very clear that speech on a college campus is effectively criminalized
True that they didn't "accomplish" anything in terms of eliminating waste or reducing the deficit, but that was just a smokescreen. The objective was always to target and punish ideological enemies and redirect public money into the pockets of right-wing ideologues. Very successful in that sense.
It's true that they didn't "accomplish" anything in terms of eliminating wasteful spending or reducing the deficit, but that waa always a smokescreen. The objective was always to target and punish ideological enemies- like me- and redirect public money into the pockets of right-wing ideologues.
Considering that I lost my job because of this nonsense I'm not sure I'd agree they achieved nothing, but it's pretty remarkable how poorly they're able to articulate any of it after all this time- though its not like they ever really felt the need to justify themselves to the unconverted
Well the universities responded to the last round of major protests by eagerly collaborating with the Trump administration to silence their own students and faculty so now everyone's locked outside of campus: www.columbiaspectator.com/news/2026/03...
All these universities eagerly and actively collaborated with the Trump administration to crack down on free speech, punish student demonstrators and censor their own faculty- this recieved considerable attention at the time these agreements were made!

Sure hope they're competent
Christopher Clary @clary_co It's after midnight in the UAE and I believe that for the first in many days--I believe for the first time since hostilities began--the UAE did not release numbers on the total number of drone and ballistic missile strikes upon the UAE and their success in intercepting them. Quote Christopher Clary @clary_co ยท Mar 10 The hit vs. intercept rate for ballistic missiles and drone attacks since Feb. 28 for the UAE through today. so they're out of interceptors, yea?
Apart from the sovereignty issue, that's about 22% of annual US production of Tomahawks flying past there.
This isn't a sustainable campaign.

Currently watching the Dominican Republic beat the tar out of Israel with considerable satisfaction but all the Japan/Korea/Taiwan competition has been immensely entertaining.
Never paid it much mind in past years but the World Baseball Classic has really been fantastic this time around, some really great games and fantastic energy from the different teams. Just a great reminder of how fun the game can be.
For the same $6 trillion cost, you could crush child poverty with a child allowance and free childcare, fix unemployment insurance, do paid family, sick & medical leave, massively boost ACA subsidies, and eliminate child uninsurance with Medicare for Kids.
the US tax burden is not too high. our problem is our safety net is shit. handing individuals a little more cash can't solve problems like skyrocketing healthcare costs, housing crisis, no childcare, vaccine refusal. 1
