But despite my tense conversation with the nurse today, she’s cool people and I understand more of her journey as a vet that fell into the field. But she has some biases to check.

My hope in going to the facility is to keep us from having to stay overnight nightly but be there for support and can let the chosen members of our tribe sit and just be present bc dad ain’t talking much.

I had a tense conversation with our nurse before we talked to the case manager. She was imposing her perspective on how we should take care of dad at home — which we don’t have the capacity to do that safely.

In a month the decline has been real.

Another night on the 6th floor.

Met with the case manager, palliative care and then the Hospice nurse. Its weird to hear “yea, he’s dying but not ready for full hospice support.”

Thankfully we may have a spot at a nursing facility in town. The upfront cost is crazy, but we can handle it.

Left and went on campus, bc I am “that Aggie” and being on the yard is grounding. Popped in to Dr. Coble’s animal science course — had a brief intro bc I couldn’t sneak in and stayed after talking to students about life and growth of @ncatsuaggies.bsky.social

I am full. Spent the day at the hospital with dad, that was rough but after leaving I was told he hit a key milestone that was needed before we transfer to a skilled nursing facility with hospice support. Cone Health’s palliative care and chaplains have been amazing in this time.
