Bull Island is nature’s gift to Dubliners. They haven’t been grateful Once a haven for wildlife, its famed hares and many birds have disappeared

Dublin City Council has said that efforts to enforce rules on Bull Island have "proven futile", a remarkable statement.

Would we tolerate people running amok in the National Gallery or at Newgrange? Hardly, so why can't we have rules at important nature sites?

‘They pushed so many lies about recycling’: the fight to stop big oil pumping billions more into plastics Plastic production has doubled over the last 20 years – and will likely double again. For author Beth Gardiner, metal water bottles and canvas tote bags are not the solution. So what is?

Trying to use less plastic?

Big Oil and the plastics industry are spending billions to make sure everyone else uses more.

“I think what stood out most is the deliberateness and intentionality over the years of pushing plastic into our lives,” said @bethgardiner.bsky.social. “It was such a shock."

Richard Curran: If there is gas off the Irish coast we’re shooting ourselves in the foot not licensing explorers to go and find it Things are bad when the British energy minister says the UK is “exposed” to rising energy prices.

Suppose it’s simply asking far too much to expect a senior RTÉ business journalist in 2026, as the #climate crisis deepens by the month, to have grasped that continuing to drill for fossils fuels is shooting ourselves in the head, never mind foot?

More than half a million car journeys avoided every day in Dublin by walking and cycling Cycling trips are up 50% in two years in Dublin, as a majority of people back more space for bikes over cars.

Despite abysmal active transport infrastructure, more people are cycling. This is great news.

Imagine what we could achieve if we actually provided people with the world class active transport infrastructure they deserve.

Bicycle parking takes parking space away from one vehicle.

Vehicle parking takes living space from hundreds of people.

7 deaths on our roads over the weekend including a 16 y/o girl walking her dog.

Why the obsession over hi-vis? Why the reduction in active travel funding?
Where are the 30km/h zones?
Where are the red light cameras?
Why no enforcement?
Why aren't intelligent speed systems default on new cars?
