our foster dog foster failed. i now have 3 dogs, 2 being high anxiety & selectively reactive. my orange cat must be sedated to be allowed to go to the vet. it is easier and more natural to care for and train them than it is to deal with people. i am a spreadsheet jockey by trade but a dog at heart.
i am constantly overstimulated by the news and being scapegoated and used as a prop to destroy healthcare. autism is better than measles tbh. i started taking medicine to deal with the overstimulation. it makes me drowsy. it's an antihistamine, believe it or not, but i don't want to use benzos.
thankfully, attending protests regularly and hanging out with old ladies there. many such ladies.
we were forced back to the office, half our staff tested positive for COVID this week and i got push back for suggesting we work remotely in the days following contact even if not testing positive.
minor life updates and proof of life: i am ok, hope you're all ok. i have a lot of work responsibilities that are dragging me down. i am bound by a code of conduct that does not allow me to send nasty emails to john fetterman or shapiro anymore & can only protest on non-work days (even if using pto)
yes i will gladly pay bail money for a college student who got arrested for refusing to leave the governor's mansion during a protest. but that doesn't mean we need to make it their responsibility to leverage their own future so we can keep up relations with our bosses. fucking sick behavior. shame.
something i have noticed is that we Grown Adults expect teenagers & young adults to bear the burden of the protest and change we want to see in the world. we "sponsor" young college students to pay their bus fare and bail money so they'll get arrested and beaten by cops for us while we stay at work

Yup! Our other pitbull, also a rescue, is on prozac. Took about 6 months to a year to get to a good stable place on it. The training piece is the other half of the equation, and this new foster has some issues that I've never dealt with before. But we're getting there! With love & drugs & time.

Have you ever heard of a dog being on ADHD meds? I never considered that one day I'd be in line at CVS to pick up my dog's and my own ADHD meds. What a world we live in. It keeps us both from screaming all day.

He is lovely and affectionate and extremely smart, he loves to learn tricks, but he also loves to eat seatbelts & leashes and is still learning to not play bite people & not scream all day. Training and evals cost money, and he isn't their only dog in this situation. If you want to donate please do.
When he was at the shelter, there was a nasty bug being passed around. He & the other dogs had extended quarantines, which seriously impacted some of their emotional and behavioral development. If you can spare it, the rescue group has several of those dogs who need specialized training and evals.
Bam, a warm brown and white pitbull, walking down the sidewalk with a big red and purple ball in his mouth. He has a jaunty gait, one of his white tipped feet is extended out in front of him, and he is paying absolutely zero attention to me as I take his picture. He is extremely pleased with his ball and focused on carrying it. He is wearing a purple and black harness, and his face is mostly white except for his black nose and the swoop of brown across the top of his head and one ear.
Bam, having dropped his red ball on the sidewalk and wanting to stop to chew on it more effectively, standing with his legs apart in a sturdy stance to prevent us from continuing the walk. He is looking into the camera with his dopey looking little blue eyes. He had to have eyelid surgery so his eyes are extra dopey looking. His white tipped tail is wagging hard and his ears are perked, as the walk and the ball are extremely exciting, and it is difficult to pick which activity he wants to do.
Also, this is our new foster dog. He is on ADHD meds. Like for real. We and the rescue agency are doing our best for him to get him adoptable (he might be a foster fail tbh, he and our other pitbull are best friends and boyfriends now i guess). If you can help, read on or share please!
Oscar, an orange tabby cat, laying across an in-progress quilt top. He is looking at the camera with am expression that reads as if he is bothered, but really he is incredibly pleased. One of his paws is close to his soft, fuzzy chest, resting on a loose grass-green and white checkered fabric square. His other front paw is extended forward, holding down a pile of fabric squares that are half yellow-green and half coral pink. The quilt top features two quilt blocks with images of Moo Deng, a pygmy hippo, pieced together out of solid colors, with her mouth open and legs akimbo against a creamy white background with pinky purple flowers. The sides of the quilt top resemble cut pieces of watermelon, which I later embellished with black embroidery to look like watermelon seeds.

His stripey tail is curled behind him, the end slightly raised as he tapped it in mild annoyance, but his expression is a bit more playful. The quilt is a solid black and white in zig zag stripes to resemble the famous zig zag flooring in the Red Room in Twin Peaks. This time, the quilt top itself was done and I was trying to line it up with the inner batting and the red plush backing fabric. I had to hand quilt it, which was a very exciting prospect for a lively young orange cat who loves to lay on top of projects I am actively working on.
AllieCat, a brown tabby cat with some orangey tortoiseshell markings, laying on her side across a large woodland themed quilt top. Her extra fluffy orangey tan belly peeks out from between her brown stripey legs. The solid dark brown end of her tail wags. The quilt features large printed illustrations of sleeping woodland creatures, the visible one being a cartoony fawn laying on a blue leafy plant with pink flowers. Green, pink, and white patchwork fabric squares make up the bulk of the bottom third of the quilt, most with woodland creature illustrations or floral patterns.

Oscar's legs are in the air as he thoroughly enjoys the smooth cotton on his fuzzy back, and his light orange belly is exposed. He is looking towards his back paw and curved stripey tail.

A small quilt in the trans pride flag colors, light blue, light pink, and white. Each quilt square is either plain with no print, has floral prints, stars and constellations, or woodland creatures such as foxes and owls. It is bound in a thin strip of rainbow plaid fabric the whole way around. It does not yet have text on it, but I will iron on words to use this at a protest.
The opposite side of the protest quilt. It is the progress flag colors-- a rainbow flag with a triangle on the side in white, pink, blue, brown, and black. The quilt squares are mostly solid, but some contain florals or stars. It is bound in a rainbow plaid fabric. The inside is actually a pocket so I can slip a piece of cardboard in between the quilt to hold it up at a protest.
