Bumper sticker: "Save Big Bend! No border wall! Β‘No al muro!
A local organizer from West Texas kindly sent me 15 of these, which I put out as freebies at a like-minded SXSW event. They did not last ten minutes #NoAlMuro

Lmao
Simultaneously everyone's loss and a badge of honor
To put this in language that members of this administration can understand: Pete Hegseth is scared of a girl.
Set list from 2pm to 11pm. Bands include "Two Man Giant Squid", "Wifeknife", and "Jesus Christ II"
You don't even have to go downtown! Every single combination coffee/frozen margarita remote worker hub in the city has a set list every day that looks like this!! The honky tonk band at mine this morning was from Amsterdam!!!
ClichΓ© but SXSW encapsulates everything excellent about living in Austin. It's always 75Β°F and sunny with all-day concerts at the corner store and an endless rain of free drinks & the dumbest branded free stuff. Gonna do the ridiculous Rivian obstacle course and go see Orville Peck for free.
Being a marine and getting sent to the coast of Iran as an expedition force with only air support has got to be like a top 3 nightmare scenario as a marine, right
so, next time they are in power, i think democrats should ask themselves real serious questions about whether they want to continue considering bids and accepting contracts from an organization that has made eradicating half the country an explicit political goal
"Jennifer Schuessler has meticulously documented the destruction since the beginning... But thereβs something about seeing a callow young man blank out when asked why he destroyed so much that really brings home the mindless destruction of this campaign." www.lawandchaospod.com/p/doge-bros-...
I met with AI data labelers in Kenya who are organizing their colleagues to fight the brutal working conditions and horrible pay given to the workers at the "bottom of the AI supply chain." They believe the NDAs they've signed are unenforceable so are speaking out:

I question this campaign's burn rate but hey whatever works
Incredible
My pet theory is that the only way Blexas happens if the "Texas is a non-voting state!!!" line applies to rural republicans, and by god we might have the conditions
you may fly over a land forever; β¦ bomb it, atomize it, pulverize it and wipe it clean of lifeβbut if you desire to defend it, protect it and keep it for civilization, you must do this on the ground, the way the Roman legions did, by putting your young men in the mud

Rio Grande River in Big Bend State park with an obvious giant cliff on one side and a huge stretch of nothing in the desert on the other

Having a rattlesnake rear up at me to strike lives rent-free in my head along with running smack into a mountain lion at night, skydiving, being held at gunpoint, and some sketchy shit abroad that will go undescribed on a list of good stories I do not need to ever experience again.

The risk for babies who get measles under the age of 6 months to develop this within 10 years is 1 in 600.
I genuinely feel like you can still do this! Maaaaybe with $10 cover here or there but, like, I've got three sets of plans for this exact thing with no badge.
the archeological unwinding of this era's fraud will take decades, assuming we emerge semi-intact
I have to assume we're probably only seeing like 30% of it

And, to make the obvious points:
βThe US offers "thoughts and prayers" when school children are gunned down with AR-15s.
βAny country's reaction is different when a foreign entity is involved.
How long will people in Iran remember? How long would Americans remember an Iranian missile.
Imagine the reaction in the US if ~175 schoolgirls had been killed by a targeted Iranian missile. (Or anyone's missile.)
This is an atrocity.
My sense is it's a wedge issue between combination big tech/big ag and normal big ag, in that it's a competition between them for who can exploit more without profit sharing. Big Ag thinks it's fine when they do it to migrant laborers but hates when Big Tech does it to them
The U.S. military has really begun to flirt with doing itself generational damage in terms of professionalism and permanent damage in terms of reputation. If we come away from this conflict looking like Russia or Israel, it will take decades to undo.
Exactly
Lyrically and sonically could have been made in 2005, which short-circuits my brain's ability to assess quality
Colin I have tickets to a Format show in April and I am PSYCHED
NEW: Chris Gober β a Republican attorney who played a key role in the GOPβs effort to redraw Texasβ congressional map mid-decade β is now the partyβs nominee to represent one of the very districts he helped redraw.
This November, he will face Democrat Caitlin Rourk in the GOP-leaning district.
For Big Bend, it will take them seconds to change the color of the line on the map again, and mere minutes to issue full waiver of laws in the park. They have 45 billion dollars to spend. There is nothing stopping them except for us. (4/6)
