The height thing is definitely cultural, not just romance trope.
Tall women and short men get dumped into the same social category of being the comic relief or villain, unless there’s a specific arc to address their disastrous height (ie tall girl finds ridiculously taller guy).
Also a good point. Having a child sized, doll-like mini heroine raises a whole other set of ICK given the recent political reveals in the US.
