Happy Lunar New Year and Ramadan! These two holidays have not overlapped in 32 years, and they are also happening at the same time as Lent and an eclipse 😱

I am not joking when I say between multiple business emails I had 300k emails to sort through. One of my oldest web host emails was not compatible with a newer one so it broke all my old folder structures. I was sorting so much that I actually continued to sort emails in my dreams last night 😅

New emails are all tested and functional ☺️ already enjoying the new spam blocking features.

Also finally fixed a weird glitch that prevented our site's receipts from showing up in gmail.

So if we missed an email or you missed ours that is getting fixed just in time for mercury retrograde!

It's been a fun, very not Valentine's tech weekend. It's a slow weekend order rush was weeks prior so best time to do it while no one is trying to reach out 😂 We're switching our email platform to get a better handle on spam than our old email client, and slowly porting over each inbox

I do not know why gloves and hats are out of style but it’s such a shame, these are fabulous 🖤

Next to get the studio finished I need to build a large wall of storage along the angled ceiling, this will store samples, inventory of finished goods and trims for production. Keeping them from getting dusty when the space gets used for cutting and sewing that naturally creates dust.

Not just us, a handful of other designer friends are doing the same. Quietly creating and just living and working more privately. It does get weird when people ask “are you still doing your business?” Because they equate social media with being active

I also have some shiny new industrial machines that have yet to be christened with new production runs and samples, and a new 16 foot cutting table I always dreamed of ready to go… but that the timing of world events and the continued evolution of me has delayed that from being fully utilized.

Anyways, all this to say. I’ve been at this a while and feel grateful to have the ability to rediscover myself and my brand in the process, but I am not the type to do that publicly. Ironically my cat who helped me launch my brand died last year, and we got a new rescue who looked very similar to him and named him Phoenix because Phoenix themed things had been coming to me for a while as he passed. RIP Steven the original BTS mascot, welcome Phoenix

I am going to be honest and say I have not found the bridge from who I was to where I am going. Then I saw an Octavia butler quote that helped crystallize my dilemma… “In order to rise

And reader… I realized I am not done burning away the old me.

Frankly the small nuances of great design don’t make engaging video content. If you have to pause to film a jump break video during making something you take 20 times as long to make stuff. It benefits very specific type of creation and creator. So I’m still here trying to figure out how to be…

I personally dislike that artists and designers and everyone in between can no longer just do their job, they have to *perform it*. And let me tell you, some of the makers out there are not great at what they do, it’s hastily cobbled together for views creations. It takes time away from the craft

Modern social media is really personality focused, and brands that don’t have a person hire people (*coughs Sydney Sweeney). So that leaves me and other creators in a weird place - we either become personalities and shuck & jive to get noticed, or we resist & just create… which is increasingly hard

And here is my dilemma- how do I sell lingerie when I don’t want distract from the most pressing issues of my lifetime. I built a brand that I hoped would one day outlast me so intentionally crafted it to “not be about me”. I still don’t want to be my brand, but I also need to find a way to honor me

I was painting my studio while watching videos of children being blown to bits on my phone, sobbing in between installing floor trim and doors… and sick with guilt for the abundance and privileges I had just by nature of where I was born.

My life has changed a lot since I first started this brand in my tiny NYC apartment. I moved to a rural town in the Hudson Valley, and was finally building my dream studio. Then in Oct 2023 I immediately knew that my mother’s country would get dragged into this, and last month that became a reality.

I used to be great at self promotion, and I used to love social media. But since 2020 something in me shifted. I craved more in person interaction & more substance from the platforms I once joined to share pretty latte art & outfit pics. I just know I can’t use these platforms the way I did in 2010
