They do have comedic history. According to a guy on Reddit answering this exact question, they appeared multiple times together on another panel show, and I think that was basically just how their comedy styles interacted. I don't think it's that serious, they've just worked like that before.

This is the second advert I've seen for this, and the first was as a Map Men sponsor where I feel like they deliberately tried to make it unappealing.
Nothing consistently makes me literally laugh out loud more than this guy's comics, which means a lot when you consider I'm basically here because I'm in a group of comedy fans. They are fantastic, and insanely well drawn.
