What we know so far about UK graduate prioritisation On Tuesday 13th January, the UK Government introduced the Medical Training (Prioritisation) Bill. The aim is to restore competition ratios for specialty training programmes to more reasonable levels, ...

We recognise the impact the Act will have on non-prioritised doctors already working in the UK. We’ll continue to push for longer term contracts and proper protection for them.

The Medical Training (Prioritisation) Act has officially become law.

This is a first step in tackling the jobs crisis for doctors, something we’ve long campaigned for. And after extensive BMA lobbying, we understand that the Government will be commencing the Act tomorrow.

“Forcing hospitals to collect and publish data on corridor care is welcome... [But] ending corridor care, as the Health Secretary has pledged to do, will require much bolder actions.”

The referendum – taking place from 4 to 25 March – will give GPs and GP Registrars across England the opportunity to tell the Government if their approach has been acceptable or whether they should return to direct negotiations with the GPCE to jointly develop a better contract.

Vote now to have your say on the 2026/27 GP contract which is being imposed on GP practices in England. GPs are being asked to do more and more, list sizes and GP-to-patient ratios are expanding while continuity of care is shrinking.

Today is #WorldObesityDay. We recently published a report which shows ultra processed foods are making the UK sick.

Not enough is being done to halt rising obesity levels and preventable disease, particularly among children, placing enormous pressure on the NHS.
