So he took care of it right away and now my 5 wobble stools and 3 standing desks (that go up and down) are now gone. They have been replaced by our standard desks and chairs. FAFO kids. I am so OVER the poor behavior! 2/2
Yeah! Here's how my day went: I had students from two different class periods throwing the class wobble stools like a ball today. (I teach MS English, not PE for the record). So after school, I asked my principal how I could have furniture removed. 1/2
You would be excellent in some type of mentoring/training new teachers position if or when you ever leave teaching students directly. π©·
Reading Update: I am on page 572 out of 806 total pages, which is Chapter IX (9) in Part VI (6). The story is currently focused on my favorite characters, Kitty and Levin, but we may be heading back into Anna territory soon. #BookSky #winterreading #classicliterature
I will read some non-fiction too along with thrillers or mysteries and the occasional romance book. I am open to all genres but tend to read what sounds interessting to me. I am currently reading the classic novel Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. It's my Russian soap opera.
π
Hmmm...good question. I have always been an avid reader. As a child/teen, I devoured Nancy Drew books but don't read much true mysteries anymore. I read mostly general fiction but the genres I seem to read the most are general/literary fiction, historical fiction,
sci-fi, or fantasy.
Lucy has had a hard day of sleeping all day.
Earlier today...it's so cold that I can only stand to walk about 15-20 minutes outside. The snow is "sweating" and desperately trying to melt but it's too cold. #snowdays #noschoolallweek #stayinsideandread #BookSky #EduSky
If you're a #teacher and have had a lot of #snowdays recently, what book are
you reading right now? I am reading Anna Karenina. #BookSky #EduSky #TeachersofBlueSky #Reading #snowdays #winter
IKR - a friend gave me one of her copies since she had two. It's her favorite book. I am reading it for the first time.
In only my third year of teaching, I have gone analog this year too. I rarely even have my students use their computers. We do a lot of worksheets in my current school and my 6th graders are currently reading Space Case...or they would if we ever have school again. #snowdays π
The snow days have helped me make good progress on Anna Karenina. Kitty & Levin are saving this book for me. I am not a fan of Anna or Vronsky. Such messy people. π #BookSky #EduSky
It's so cold outside that even Steve
needs a blanket, and Steve is a penguin. (It's currently 27 degrees but feels like 11 degrees with windchill in Fredericksburg, Virginia).
The view from outside. #snowday #snow #winter #noschooltomorrow #reading #BookSky #EduSky
This one is the best of the 5 GoT books published so far. Quit while youβre ahead. I hated the next two books, and I have given up on GRRM ever finishing the series.
I am starting off the year with Anna Karenina. I am about halfway through it so far.
I can't even imagine. Shout out to all the history teachers right now.
No, what is that? Is it about teaching middle school?
#BookSky - Russian soap opera update: I am on page 279. Alexis has decided "it's cheaper to keep her" re: Anna. Levin is all about that farm life. Dolly is chlling in the countryside & waiting for Kitty to join her. I'm stilll #TeamLevin for Kitty but at least she had a "friend" to make her π.
And that doesn't include the new state testing called VALLSS. I had to do 4 different subtests for my entire student roster. I have probably lost 1-2 weeks worth of regular instructional time due to testing requirements. The kids are burned out too.
In my new job, we are testing the tweens in all 4 core subjects every quarter. It's bonkers. Totally not necessary IMHO. Test them in Q1 at the beginning of the year for a baseline and again in Q4 at the end of the year to see what growth has occurred, if any. 1/2
I have 3 nights and 4 days in Toronto & Niagara Falls to look forward to with my husband and a week out west - 3 days @ Yellowstone & 3 days at Grand Teton National Park with my Mom and sister to look forward to so yeah for that! Spring in Canada and summer out west. βοΈπ
Well thus far I have been travel agent-ing so it hasn't been too bad planning my vacations. I teach and then I travel during my breaks. Spring Break trip is booked with the husband. Family Summer trip out west is booked. Now I can chill. π
I'd like to finish Anna Karenina in January but we'll see.
Hmmm...maybe. I can never seem
to get myself on a schedule. I am currently on page 254 and have slowed down the past few days due to being somewhat bored by Levin's farm life. Also, real life is encroaching due to school starting on Monday. Nooooo....
I am now following all these top educators, some of whom I was already following. I am a newbie ELA teacher myself with 2 years teaching teens and now I am in my first year teaching tweens in a public Title 1 middle school. Hobbies: Trying to survive MS & grad school, reading, TV/movies, travel.
It's so good. I am actually surprised by how much I like this book. I thought it would be dry and boring, and it's not at all. Going to get back to it now after future vacation planning. I don't want to go back to school. Nooooo.... (tired teacher here).
Goodnight #BookSky. I will start Volume I, Part IIII, page 234 tomorrow. I am making good progress on my Russian soap opera. π
