It’s cool that this generation gets to find out the answer to “what would you have done when we started interning the Japanese?” and “what would you have done when we invaded Vietnam?” and “what would you have done in Watergate?” all at the same time.

Echoing that the alec guiness version captures the whole of it. The movie is cool when you’ve read the book but is incomprehensible if not

Why do I have to pretend that I'm going to print something in order to save it as a PDF. Why do I have to engage in a little ruse.

"of course people should have known, he didn't hide any of it!" is a valid complaint but the fact of the matter is that a lot of people self-evidently did not understand what they were voting for and they don't like it

I listened to several of these and across all of them two things are standard- the simpering nature of these calls which are always "oh I dont know theyre nice I'm sure why don't you lock them in a cage just in case" & how ENRAGED they get when they simply have their own words repeated at them

This seems very on point for all the 70s screwball comedies. No one learns anything in What’s Up Doc, the characters just play out their character getting in and out of trouble

Ayo Edebiri’s Closet Picks The actor shares her love for sexy and stylish heist movies like Charade and Thief; praises the work of Juzo Itami (whom she calls “the G.O.A.T.”) and his wife, Nobuko Miyamoto; and talks about the Af...

I watched it last year after Ayo Edebiri raved about it in the Criterion Closet. One of a kind movie. www.criterion.com/shop/collect...

I never realized that "wherefore" is of a pair with "therefore" kinda cute. "Where" and "there" with a suffix become "why" and "thus"

At Truss I saw that it was easier to standardize on tech for our infra than for the app stack on various different contracts. On the "define tech standards for teams outside of SFDS" side of the job: have y'all been able to ship libraries/tools or just best practices?

Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”

This is our culture.

Epstein isn't a freak exception, his elite friends aren't exceptions.

He, and they, are a mirror.

That's all.

Even in Elon Musk’s denial of his involvement with Epstein—which directly contradicts the available evidence—the world’s richest man is still claiming he knew all about “pedo island” and didn’t do anything to stop it. Even in their fantasies of innocence they’re still directly enabling child abuse
