Snowcapped mountains stretch across the image, with scattered groups and bands of turning aspens providing color. The sky is deep blue. Canon 5D, 90mm, f/7, 1/125 sec.

This stitch of three images taken in 2006 represents a discovery - in browsing old files, I discovered these were taken for the purpose of a pano, but I'd forgotten that. This is the first time I've processed and stitched them.

Small scale erosional features in siltstone and mudstone on a slightly sloping desert floor. The variously-shaped mounds and protrusions are differentially weathered and appear to be melting into the base layer. In the background we see the base of a larger formation whose upper sections are out of view.

A marvelously textured arroyo with walls that appear to be melting draws the eye down its center. At above right a twisted tiny dead tree appears perched on a mound, overseeing the ominous clouds looming overhead. In the bottom of the draw a pair of boulders blocks an easy exit.

A wildly sculpted hoodoo rises against a blue, cloud-streaked sky in a desert environment. Its caprock is concave, as if to support a seated individual. Around and behind it in the middle distance are a variety of other extravagantly sculpted rock formations. It is a weird looking place.

A huge hoodoo dominates the image, rising into a sky roiled with gray clouds. It bears a capstone of reddish rock, while its column is lighter grayish-white. Fragments of a broken, shattered capstone - perhaps from a long-fallen hoodoo - are present on the ground at right. A light-buff colored ridge of sandstone appears at right center in the middle distance.
