Thank you for playing Hazel Scott again. I was struck by her when you played her on Monday. She has such a beautiful voice reminiscent of Billie Holiday and esp Ella Fitzgerald. I'll have to check out more of her music.

It was a wonderful lecture. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
A lovely and insightful review of my pamphlet 'Year of the Rat' by Wendy Klein has gone live today on The High Window:

My new pamphlet, Year of the Rat, has arrived! My thanks to Blueprint Poetry Press for publishing it. Details of the upcoming launch will be shared soon.
Copies of the pamphlet can be obtained from the London Review Bookshop or by contacting Blueprint Poetry directly (blueprintpoetry@gmail.com).
I've been listening for over 20 years and I've never heard of it, but I've seen a FB post where it was discussed many years ago, so π€·. I like Joy so I'm very intrigued to see where that story's going.
It was funny at first; now it's boring and overdone. I prefer more of Neil's story or even Joy's.
Ian Hislop offers his unvarnished opinion of Elon Musk. Watch the whole thing:
I had a great meeting this morning with Blueprint Poetry Press editors Jo Colley and Julie Hogg discussing the proofs for my pamphlet 'Year of the Rat'--it's looking to see the light of day later this winter. I'm very happy it's in their capable hands. πππ

Thank you, Cerys, for playing Robert Johnson tonight. βΊοΈβΊοΈ BTW, I'm from San Antonio originally (born there many years after Johnson stopped by), so it's great to know the ol' hometown had its place in Blues history.
Say hi to...

Title: The John Le CarrΓ© Advent Calendar - Available in all good bookshops. Description - December 1st to 23rd: open the door to watch Gerorge Smiley reluctantly uncover a conspiracy as he wanders around the damp, dilapidated London of the seventies. (images of six of the doors, showing a stick figure os Smiley going about his business in shades of browny-gray) December 24th: Having solved the mystery and written his resignation letter, Smiley eats Christmas dinner alone. (image of Smiley at a table with a letter, unappetising portion of food and glass of wine, in browny-gray)

Such a brilliant poem--it was my first exposure to Copus's work and I've loved her poetry ever since
Part of the journal Black Iris's quick-response news-in-poetry series following last week. Just so you know what I think.
Thanks, Pam! βΊοΈβΊοΈβΊοΈ
Since the US election, friends have asked how I feel about the results, which has been difficult to encapsulate. Today I suddenly remembered this poem I wrote 3 years ago in the wake of January 6th & was later published in High Window. Foremost, it shows that the world hasn't quieted down.
