the international world's collective silence on iran has become more and more disheartening each day as the scale of the conflict and the crackdowns have seem to have been growing every time i check. i think it's insane that among the people i know and every online personality i follow that i've ended up being the one to have to make a statement and even attempt to spread some awareness about the population's fight for basic human rights. i did not think i needed to say that staying silent on the massacre that has killed over 30,000 of it's own people is exactly what the regime that enacted the massacre wants you to do about it. it's become harder and harder to put up with constant skimming and willful ignorance of a conflict they don't know how to comment on because it hasn't been confirmed if it's personally affected them or not. it's become more of a chore each day to look at my surroundings and seeing people going about their everyday life knowing that they won't be held accountable for their silence because this doesn't affect them. iran entered a full internet blackout in january that's been slowly lifted, but we are still in a half-working internet with people fighting as hard as they can to get their own voices heard over the border as the government continues trying to take control of the one place left where people are least at risk of being punished for individuality. this became the perfect opportunity for people to become iran's voice when it was violently taken away from them, but most people opted to keep quiet and become complicit in human rights violations. if you want to at least try to support the iran people's constant fight for survival and free expression, the least you can do is spread awareness about what the government is doing to suppress its people. retweet and discuss anything going against what our government is enforcing, and please become our voice at a pivotal moment in our history with almost five decades of oppression.
