But the thing that I keep coming back to is how the left dismisses and ignores the toll that it has *to us too*
This isn’t us versus them, it’s just versus all of us, Venezuelan and American.

I’ve seen first hand how war so severely screws up the people you care about about, even when physically unscathed. There’s nothing noble in war, even when it is justified. And Venezuela is no where close to justified, just to be clear.
And this is why I did, and still do, support some of my closest friends’ decisions to enlist in the USAF and USMC. And I supported them while they served in Afghanistan and Iraq in the early aughts, and still do.
And this is why I’m so anti-war
There was a brief time where I was genuinely worried I would be drafted. It’s ridiculous to think now, sure, but we didn’t know that then.
But also.
I still loved my country then, as I do now, in spite of its many *many* flaws and fucked up things we’ve done.
I’m deeply against the action my government has taken, but I’m also frustrated by the shallow-albeit-intense reaction from the left.
So I want to talk about what it was like being an 18-19 year old male when 9/11 and then the invasion of Iraq happened.
So Venezuela, and our horrifying illegal capture of a despicable inhumane leader.
I find myself reflecting on my early college years. I started my freshman year in August 2001…obviously a rather specific time in US history.
In ways I’m recalling similar feelings to back then.

I was laid off today from @speakeasy.com, along with a number of other folks. Startups are hard.
I mostly find myself filled with gratitude though. I've never before worked under such supportive leadership and with a genuine partners in sales. I'll miss it.
So on to the next thing. Who's hiring?
The one, the only, Dr. Hughes!
