The production team only changed 3 years ago, so the show doesn't need to be cancelled for that to happen. Bringing it back in 2005 was a huge gamble due to the unique requirements to pull off a show like Who. V risky to think that would happen again...

But TV shows don’t get the luxury of a “rest” - they’re either in production or they’re cancelled. If BBC did decide there’s not the demand for Who now, why would anyone assume that demand would return in 5-10 years time?
