DHS Ousts CBP Privacy Officers Who Questioned ‘Illegal’ Orders Department of Homeland Security leaders removed top privacy officers who objected to mislabeling government records to block their public release, WIRED has learned.

DHS is retaliating against FOIA officers for making lawful releases.

At the same time, most of the agency's FOIA officials (including at CBP) are furloughed, and the govt's procurement database has been absorbed by a website that effectively makes it unusable.

They are hiding your docs from you.

After detainments and deportations, the lives left behind in Minnesota From abandoned possessions to unpaid rent, many Minnesotans had to lean on family, friends and community organizations for help with their unfinished business.

"Each person plucked from their day-to-day existence left a whole life behind. There are shoes by the front door and an empty bed. There’s a car in the driveway and a job undone. There are pets that need feeding, bills that keep arriving and leases with months left to pay."

Anthropic vs. the Pentagon: Inside the Battle Over A.I. Warfare In recent weeks, the Defense Department has tussled with Anthropic over how its artificial intelligence could be used on classified systems. That fight became bitter and negotiations fell apart. And…

Good discussion of the AI companies here. But I do think too much reporting takes AI founders at face value that the future of AI warfare will mean robots fighting robots, which seems a bit naive after what tech has done in Ukraine and now Iran. pca.st/episode/7ac9...

Clancey's is such a gem. I've been so impressed with every interaction I had with Kristin too, including the time she gently recommended a last meal when my dog Maybelle was dying of cancer. Also, she's listening to public radio on those headphones sometimes.

But that's not a newsroom virtue, it's normally treated as a vice. Thus the job she was appointed to requires conflict with the newsroom, via accusations of bias.
