In 2023, Guatemala faced a political crisis as elites attempted a judicial coup to undermine the presidential election. Indigenous & youth-led mobilisation, backed by civil society & international support, defended democracyโculminating in the inauguration of Bernardo Arรฉvalo on Jan 2024.

The 2nd in-person training of the Youth Peace Mediatorsโ Mentoring Programme took place in #Addis, hosted at the African Union Headquarters. This gathering marked an important deep dive into the AUโs peace & security architecture & what it means for day-to-day mediation work on the continent.
Interpeace works to de-risk development by embedding political, social and peacebuilding engagement into project design. Renรฉe urged for stronger partnerships b/w peacebuilders & development finance actors, & inclusive decision-making to reduce grievances & build trust.
