A black and white illustration of two foxes rearing up in front of each other, posed almost as if they were dancing together. Text reads: JULIAN MIHOLICS X LIEVEN HENDRICKX LIMITED EDITION COLLABORATION ART PRINT HAND PRINTED AT MELTING PAPER STUDIO 13 / 03 / 2026
A close up of a lithograph print of two foxes, noses close together and observing each other.
Another print close up of our artist signatures and one of the reclining foxes.
I'm very happy to announce a lithograph print collab with Melting Paper Studio of Belgium!
"Survival and Kinship" is a limited edition print run inspired by my prior ceramic work and will be available to pre-order starting this Friday - lasting 3 weeks until pre-orders close and printing begins.
Streaking through the sky like a bell-bottomed black-suited disco-ninja, the "four-winged" dinosaur Microraptor attempts to grab an early bird, the pintailed Yuanchuavis, from the Cretaceous sky with taloned feet. Fossils show that Microraptor had a diverse diet that included birds, alongside lizards and fish.
My social media silence is not because I'm dead, kidnapped, or abducted by aliens; I'm working around the clock to make Book 7 all that it can be before submission later this month. Here's a new #paleoart take on Microraptor and Yuanchuavis to show what I'm up to.
OK, break over: back to work...
Newest watercolor is Yi, the weird (even by dinosaur standards)bat-winged feathered baby-dragon-lookin theropod. I sketched this pose with a red marker on a scrap of lined paper like 10 years ago and finally decided to paint it this week.
Recent painting of a couple of exomoons.

I suppose you've all wondered at some point how many basal ornithopods we have on the Iberian Peninsula. Well, don't worry, I've made a couple of illustrations that can help you answer that question

Vector illustration of Pakicetus attocki, a bizarre early whale relative, laying on its stomach looking at the viewer. This strange animal has long legs with hooved feet, a thick hairless tail, small ears and a long, narrow skull lined with sharp teeth for catching fish and other small animals. Its eyes are positioned up at the top of the skull as in hippos to see over the water line. The artiodactyl is reddish brown with a lighter underside

A painting of a velociraptor and a pigeon, both white with pink beak/snout. The dromeosaur is leaping and looking upward at the pigeon, who is in flight taking off. The background is flames below the dinosaur and a starry sky dotted with flocks of birds above.

part of the fauna is probably in the sharks and rays. Keen eyes will notice that some prominent taxa are missing here. This is mostly due to the stratigraphy of the Wadi being an absolute nightmare. While single members are relatively well defined, how they relate to each other...

Since the early 20th century people have recorded fossils from the Wadi and in 2005 it was dedicated a World Heritage Site. Besides Basilosaurus and Dorudon the remains of early sirenians and proboscideans and among the more important finds but the largest...

The "valley of the whales" as it is better known is a classic locality from the late Eocene of Egypt. Most famously it is place filled with the remains of early whales, Archaeoceti, but it's less straight forward as a piece than one...

Idrisah and Cheevwut sit in her cubicle organizing a pile of loose cables on the floor. Idrisah: Cheevwut, do you know where I put that USB-G cable? A series of increasingly loud thumping footsteps causes Idrisah look up in surprise. Talita has returned, gripping the top of the cubicle wall, eyes wild. Idrisah: Is something wrong? Talita glances fearfully at the entrance to the admin wing, the direction she fled from. Talita: Thereβsβ¦ centaurs outside. Cheevwut: Oh yeah, thatβs your new temp crew.
Talita grips her neck, horrified. Talita: What?? Cheevwut: Mel wanted it to be a surprise. Looks like it worked. Talita slumps on top on the cubicle wall, holding her head and staring off into space, dazed. Cheevwut seems amused by her anguish. Cheevwut: Haw haw. Idrisah: Are youβ¦ alright? Talita: Iβ Idrisah's computer, which isnβt packed yet, begins to ring. It's a call from someone named "Ranni Powell." Cheevwut leans over to peek at the monitor. Cheevwut: You're getting a call from the orbital station?Β Weird. They only do that for urgent stuff.
Talita and Idrisah exchange a panicked look. Cheevwut: Uhβ¦ You gonna pick it up? Idrisah quickly taps the enter key to pick up the call. Ranni's wrinkly whiskered face appears on the video call screen, with the tubular space station interior behind her. It is cluttered with decades of memorabilia. The bulkhead doors are ringed with circular drawstring curtains, the hatch handles and hand holds are covered with crocheted cozies, and family picture frames are attached all over the floorless walls. Paul floats behind Ranni, upside-down from the camera's perspective, using a computer console surrounded by duck figurines and childrens' artwork. Ranni: Hello IdrisahβΒ Oh, sorry, dear, I forgot you were packing up today! Should I call Ohwitiil instead? Idrisah tries to conceal her terror. Cheevwut peeks over her shoulder nosily. Talita crouches behind the cubicle wall, trying to hide. Idrisah: Hi Ranni! Itβs fine!Β Whyβd you call?
