btw if you're so petrified of doing a bad job that you can't even start, then what you need isn't advice on how to make comics. you need to learn to embrace being messy and bad at things and being okay with that because it's necessary, and actually it's GOOD. being messy is WONDERFUL

Ahh I'm doing good I've been busy so i'm terminally offline recently. My pen screen is faulty so I haven't been able to paint, I've been training for a triathlon AND my fiance was visiting the UK from Tokyo so I have been honestly overwhelmed T^T

23) my biggest inspiration and reason for painting is to overcome my aphantasia so I can someday see something in my mind and paint things from imagination alone

22) I don’t use traditional media anymore but I really like acrylic paints/gouache and watercolour pencils

21) I use a bunch of software. For digital painting, I use Rebelle and occasionally CSP and for 3D I use Blender, 3D coat and Substance

20) I used to draw in silence but more recently I've found myself listening to classical/instrumental/game scores just because it makes me really lock into the fantasy theme. Especially if i'm making renaissance style stuff. it's just perfect.

19) I used to feel jealous as a kid, but mostly because I was never able to do things effortlessly. realising I have aphantasia and finding ways to work around that certainly changed my mindset from one of envy to one of pure joy when i see inspiring works.

18) I think I'm improving rather rapidly honestly. I started painting again in october after a long hiatus and the improvement is really insanely visible. I still have a long way to go but I definitely see the progress

17) Yes sometimes i'll just vibe and focus on drawing anatomy and do studies that never see the light of day I need to challenge myself more in ways that terrifies me.

15) I think animals are hard for me. They end up looking like those renaissance paintings where the cats look vaguely demonic and humanoid.

14) I’m currently trying to improve my ability to paint without reference because I’m terrible with colour and values and depth. Maybe someday I’ll be able to.

13) I actually draw more now because I’m using reference. Drawing from mind means that I draw less because I get discouraged. But seeing what I’m working towards makes me feel so much more motivated and confident.

12) how long a piece takes depends if my hyperfixation go brrrrr some of my portraits took like 6hrs and some months. Idk how to lock in

Never finished because my friend was like “wow considering your level with reference you draw like THAT” so I noped out like lol u right I can’t draw lmaooo
