ICE agents reveal daily arrest quotas and surveillance app in rare court testimony Under oath, officers said they were told to make eight arrests a day and given special tech to help choose β€˜targets’

When a federal judge (finally) put ICE officers under oath, they admitted that they are given daily detention quotas and rely heavily on a Palantir-supplied AI tool to select targets, without warrants and without enough evidence to obtain one. They simply go into neighborhoods and round people up.

I cannot reiterate enough with the frequency and gravity it deserves that every reinfection increases the cumulative risk of Long COVlD.

Our PMC survey data (n>2,000) suggest it is rare to avoid LC after 5+ known infections. I'll talk more about that again Sunday night in Becky's Space.

It’s Long Covid Awareness Month and a good time to remind everyone that Covid is not over.

It’s still here, still disabling and still killing.

All it takes is one infection to change your life forever.

You never know when you could be disabled.

Wear a mask. Clean the air.

The environmental cost of datacentres is rising. Is it time to quit AI? As the QuitGPT movement gains momentum, should people concerned about the environmental impacts of AI consider opting out?

the best time to QuitGPT is yesterday, the second best time is now.

Stories like yours are part of why I continue to warn people about this virus. Most people tune me out, but if I can save even one person from this suffering, it is worth the ridicule and ostracization.

I am lucky to have a wonderful husband and family and a couple of great friendships. I still try to enjoy my life. But I will tell you frankly: Vlad the Impaler could not come up with a more sadistic form of torture than severe Long Covid. It is worth avoiding, and it is worth your attention.

And there are no approved treatments, no cures. People with LC are on the very fringes of medical understanding. Some doctors don’t believe it’s real. Most people don’t have any idea what it entails. And when they get it, they will find themselves utterly lost.

Long Covid isn’t just an illness. It is an ostracizing condition that puts you in discordance with society, with your friends, your family, and yourself. People want very much to not think about it, but it’s inescapable if you have it. Only a few illnesses make you a social pariah, this is one.

It’s Long Covid Awareness Day (which I think should be the Ides of March, for reasons that will become clear.)

Some of you have heard this before. But I wanted to share my Long Covid story, because I think you should hear it.

On my birthday in November 2022, I woke up with Covid.

At the beginning of the pandemic some disabled people felt hope.

We saw inclusion and accessibility improve overnight.

We saw accommodations put in place that we had spent years begging for.

We saw the world adapt.

That hope was ripped away during the rush back to normal.

It still hurts.

#LongCOVIDAwarenessDay

Learning to wear a #respie when out and about seems like a big ask… but once you get in the habit, you hardly think about it at all.

Prevention is still the best option. You’ll not miss your energy, tastebuds, ability to concentrate etc… until it is gone.

Sorry, re-posting because I accidentally mentioned the wrong stat. If your kid starts smoking in front of you and smokes their whole life, they have *15%* of developing lung cancer. If an adult gets three covid infections - just three - their risk of developing Long Covid is up to 40%

A lot of you are risking your health because of a comforting lie..

I never even thought of the characters as "straight," they are not even human. But a deep friendship of millions(?) of years should be allowed to exist as a friendship. There is so little representation of deep platonic affection in media. It's always portrayed as the "lesser" type of relationship.

Unpopular opinion here, but S2 of Good Omens was very disappointing to me for this very reason. I really loved the friendship of S1. I was looking forward to seeing more of this deep friendship story in S2. But it felt like the writers were influenced by the shipping community and made it romantic.

This is the reality of what AI companies want for the future: where EVERYONE is unable to function without relying on them for "intelligence as a utility."

In order for them to sell this to us, they need to convince us our brains are never creative, interesting, able enough.

12.03.2026 16:53 πŸ‘ 906 πŸ” 432 πŸ’¬ 19 πŸ“Œ 14

A lot of people are going to become increasingly dependent on this technology, not only due to casually outsourcing their thinking & allowing that part of their brain to atrophy, but also because of cognitive damage from repeat SARS2 infections, most people unaware that the damage is even occurring.

Lot of people responding to that thread saying β€œYes! other people have become so uncaring!!” And I really have to ask..when was the last time you wore a mask in a place where vulnerable people have to be? When was the last time you saw someone in a mask and put one on in solidarity?

13.03.2026 03:51 πŸ‘ 178 πŸ” 30 πŸ’¬ 9 πŸ“Œ 5

Once you have decided a group’s survival is not worth your inconvenience- well, look around at other things, other people who inconvenience you - surely they can’t be worth much more. Surely you are the human, and they are the problem.

We are in a place right now where every other month or so, a prominent centrist has to post about how CRAZY these CRAZY MASK WEARERS are, despite being shown over and over again that most maskers are vulnerable sick people and loved ones desperately trying to preserve their health.

As I’ve been saying for six years, you cannot decide to shut off empathy in just one lil area (all of disabled and vulnerable people.) Endangering people for your convenience and comfort is a drug you do not do recreationally.

When you become disabled and unable to work, you mourn your independence.

Most disabled people want to work.

They don’t want to beg for meagre handouts that keep them in legislated poverty.

They don’t want to be sick.

It’s not a choice & better social supports are needed.

13.03.2026 09:39 πŸ‘ 503 πŸ” 144 πŸ’¬ 8 πŸ“Œ 11

If you have only worn medical or fabric masks, I highly recommend trying different styles.

Respirator masks (N95 or FFP2) are higher quality and shaped to keep away from your lips. 😷

People are afraid of disability and chronic illness

They can’t comprehend getting sick and never getting better

They tell us to try harder

They blame it on lifestyle choices

They label us expendable and tell themselves they’ll be the exception

No one is the exception.

It can happen to anyone.
