The third book is, of course, about how a Half-Tuatha Nature Mage and a Bad Girl Necromancer can totally find forbidden love by proving that while they have different philosophies, they'd both die to save each other.
The actual Medusa Plague isn't the focus, it's about how Lyim feels SO hurt by how much he sacrificed for Rand and how Rand gets to be happy while he doesn't, while Rand feels SO bad about his friend but also how he's abandoned his family in his pursuit of magic.
It's pure melodrama.
Even a lot of the non-core series get that. The trilogy that focuses on the Towers of High Sorcery is *theoretically* about big magical things but is mostly about the messy relationship of Lyim and Rand and how they both feel betrayed by the other but they still care so much about it.
Man, if only America had made an entire series about how a nation would keep going even if the vast majority of their government got asploded.

It's a fantastic episode for 'I entirely understand why he broke medical ethics and agree with his arguments but also I would not want breaking medical ethics to be something doctors commonly do as holy fuck what the hell man, you can't just Ignore The Concept Of Consent In Medicine'.
Matte Paintings feel like a lost art. So damn many things go with 'oh yeah, the big things are Off Screen as we don't think CGI could pull it off outside of a single intro shot' when previously they've had had people marching about in front of a fantastic looking painting.

The devs seem kinda afraid to expand the setting into anywhere that risks a non-people of the book primary faith because then they'd need to establish how THAT works.
I saw a pretty fucking rancid take there that the Aztecs would be inherently hell aligned and it's just...what? That's a civilisation of people of people mate, nothing would be 'inherently' hell aligned.
It feels like the only places where history changing has REALLY mattered is in places where they want to avoid people talking about Real Human Historical Conflict. No Martin Luthor splitting the church, no social movements that don't directly involve hell...hell, most places are still monarchies.
I mean, part of it is that...well...I'm not sure they *have* done much with changing history. Ireland is mostly a copy-paste job of replacing 'British' with 'Literal Demons' so they can avoid the implications of that invasion. England gets floating fortresses...despite having no colonial empire...
Does at least let me joke that the only reason WWI is still going in-setting is because John Monash didn't exist to end it with his mastery of 'Maybe infantry fight better if they're being supported by planes and tanks and have nice warm meals'.
It's doubly frustrating to me as an Aussie as 'The British feeding Colonials into the Woodchipper' is such a defining aspect of the war but...since TC went 'No Colonialism' it means that...basicly every cultural touchstone I have for WWI is non-applicable in this WWI-themed game.
It does make it frustrating that this is somehow the SECOND Fantasy WWI game where the devs have told me 'Australia doesn't exist' when I ask about it.

Mind controlling Captain Britain is my favourite IRA plot after what happened with Lord Mountbatten.
I'm sure it would have worked well if I knew shit about building an arcanum character but man it was a rough start to trying the game.
I remember my first attempt to play Arcanum being 'Hey, what if I played an Elf Gunslinger. That famous elven vision and hand-eye coordination would work well for guns' and then running into 'Oh, elves start off with an automatic alignment to magic' and 'oh, guns are not great to start'.
