a group of clowns are gathered outside of a party store ALT: a group of clowns are gathered outside of a party store

Ok, now I'm trying to remember the title of a horror novel I read recently. A brother and sister reunite to clear out their parents' house. Said parents did clown/puppet ministries and the house is full of creepy props.
Hope my subconscious data bank kicks out the title!

A beautifully kept copy of the 1920-ish Grosset & Dunlap edition of "The Haunted Bookshop" by Christopher Morley. The jacket is freshly covered in a protective sleeve, and the book came professionally wrapped in brown paper and bubble wrap, with a free (and very striking) bookmark. This was a very well packaged book!

Just want to give a shout out to our neighbors Source Bookstore in Davenport, Iowa, who sent this surprise package to us.

This is so thoughtful! I love that my colleagues are so kind πŸ“šβ€οΈ

Goodnight from Lewis Bramwell, comforted by the thought that if he dies due to tripping on one of the hundreds of books on his staircase at least his ghost will have a lot to read. Goodnight from Gemma Cross, scrabbling to make a chalk circle around her bed. Goodnight from Hookland.

Scientists Discover Way To Reverse Chemical Process Linked With Alzheimer’s Disease By watching Alzheimer’s-related protein clumping unfold second by second, researchers have uncovered new clues about the role of metal ions.

This amazing scientific advance may one day lead to either more effective treatments or dare I say perhaps a cure.
This is why it is vitally important to fund basic scientific research.

'Hoppers' Pops With $46 Million At The Box Office As 'The Bride' Is Ready For A Divorce Hoppers gave Pixar and Disney a massive win with $46 million at the U.S. box office, while The Bride inevitably scared up just $7.2 million

Hoppers dominated at the box office with the biggest opening for an original animated movie since Coco in 2017, with $46 million. Maggie Gyllenhaal's The Bride bombed with just $7.2 million. And did Scream 7 have a 72% drop? You bet it did

β€˜The Bride!’ Is a Failed Experiment Maggie Gyllenhaal’s follow-up to β€œThe Lost Daughter” is an incomprehensible movie mash-up.

In β€œThe Bride!” the director Maggie Gyllenhaal goes for maximalism but ends up with a mess, David Sims writes:

Far-from-the-edge cases Back in 2025, I posted a list of science fiction edge cases, narratives in various media that were either science fiction (but which might be something else) or things not normally regarded as science fiction, but which have some elements. An extreme example (suggested in the comments) is the TV show Breaking Bad, which is not normally regarded as science fiction, but which is fiction and does feature science, with a main character who is a scientist and some ever-so-slightly fictional aspects to the science, and for an added bonus, a creator with a track record of writing things more overtly science fictional.

IMO, #TheBride! would've been helped immensely if Maggie Gyllenhaal had followed Chanel's advice re accessories and removed a subplot or two.

Bonnie & Clyde + Frankenstein? Cool πŸ‘πŸ»

And Mary Shelly AND a mob boss AND a movie star AND a pair of bickering detectives? Plot overload.
