My friend Tommy and I have to see all of Guy Ritchie’s films together in theatersβ€”it’s tradition. That means once or twice a year Tommy texts me, in tones of unmistakable resignation, that a new Guy Ritchie movie is out. More than one of these texts has begun with β€œI have terrible news.” It’s as if Guy Ritchie is our son and we have no choice but to attend all his recitals, no matter how dreadful. In this spirit, we have attended our son’s revenge-thriller recital (Wrath of Man), his war-propaganda recital (Guy Ritchie’s The Covenant), and his killin’-Nazis recital (The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare).

I wrote a follow-up to my story about the police attack on the Eris Parade. 8 years later it was a very different story. "The parade takes on a life and logic of it's own, and being within it is to be, for a time, part of a creature much larger than yourself."

Toward an Understanding of Fascist Aesthetics, Part I The question of whether or not we are living β€œin fascism” is, I’ve always thought, a kind of useless one, mostly because history does not go backwards: today there is not a β€œreturn” to fascism so much...

Just subscribed to @flaminghydra.com so I can read this @katewagner.wehwalt.net piece.

Lots of good twt/bsky threads out there on contemp fascist aesthetics & some longer form work, but I'm so stoked for Kate's series bc this shit is RANCID and needs mucho analysis
