Iβm finding that ND identity canβt be separated from professional identity. However, they donβt always align and entrenched normative ideas often silence our ways of knowing and being through exclusion and silencing. It means we lose (?or never achieve) a sense of belonging.
Iβve not heard of this before. Iβm exploring professional identity of the neurodivergent speech and language therapist - in the thick of data analysis at the moment. How does βidentity loadβ layout for you?

So you follow and then unfollow? Or are blocked ?
Absolutely not!! I notice that youβve said this same message to rather LOT of people, itβs no wonder you have no followers.
That is a coincidence indeed.
It was an all girls school so unless youβre trans masculine it wonβt have been me
Great news to end the week - paper accepted!π€© This is the paper where we discuss how ChatGPT can be incorporated into qualitative data analysis. So happy to hear it will be published in a very fancy journal soon! Pre-print linked below. #AcademicSky #ScienceSky
Itβs interesting how things change in such a short time. Iβm now using Diffractive Ethnography- leaning heavily into Agential Realism, post-qual/ feminist new materialism /post humanism. The non-linear βstructureβ works really well with autistic / neurodivergent ways of thinking - this is conceptual
Autistic people deserve respect, support, and celebration. We urge our colleagues to reject fear-based narratives and join us in affirming the value and humanity of every neurodivergent person.
Our profession must stand firmly against misinformation and stigma. We must advocate for neurodiversity-affirming practice and challenge narratives that pathologise difference.
As neurodivergent professionals, we feel directly oppressed and endangered by this vilification.
We call on the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT) and all speech and language therapists to speak out. Silence is not neutralityβit is complicity.
We are deeply concerned by the resurgence of eugenic ideologies in political discourse. The suggestion that autism should be feared or prevented echoes historical attempts to erase neurodivergent lives.
This rhetoric is a form of discrimination that threatens the safety, dignity, and rights of neurodivergent individuals and their families.
Autism is not a tragedy, a disaster, or a burden to society. Framing it as such perpetuates ableist narratives that dehumanise autistic people and reinforce public blaming and shaming.
Statement from the Neurodivergent SLT Network UK
We, the Neurodivergent SLT Network UK, strongly condemn President Trumpβs recent claims that paracetamol causes autism. These statements are not only scientifically baselessβthey are profoundly harmful.
Exciting news! The final manuscript of our collective book has now been submitted and will be published in the spring- jeep an eye out for pre-ordering soon. Thanks to our editor Claire Westwood for pulling us all together for this amazing book. www.jr-press.co.uk/product/brea...

I keep listening to myself in my first postgraduate researcher Vlog !!! This statement might sound a bit vainβ¦ but speaking from the child with special needs who couldnβt read independently till age 11 or talk to anyone without crying for yearsβ¦ it makes me feel pretty good to see my confidence β₯οΈ

thanks for the share Bec!!
You will find it in the poster section where there will be a short video presentation.

Don't be fooled by the title! Agential Realism uncovers the stories we don't usually hear... the ones that disrupt what we (don't) know about good quality research. If you like 'outside-the-box' thinking, then this might just blow everything you thought you knew about research.
I have been accepted to present my research at this year's RCSLT conference.
My research explores the professional identity concepts of neurodivergent SLTs using Agential Realism Diffractive Methodologies.

Iβve made this video for my research study supervisor after they requested a βnoddyβ version of a very upside down research methodology that Iβm using. Iβm not sure though Iβve achieved this π€£ let me know what youβre thinking in the comments below β€΅οΈ youtu.be/zYst-AfubkM?... #diffractivemethodology
I recorded a podcast at RCSLT to give a response to their report on the experiences of disabled SLTs.
The headlineβ¦? β¦ βthere is ableism and discrimination in the SLT professionβ!!!
No mincing of words in this report. No watering it down. Itβs sobering.

The podcast is out in two parts. In Part 1, MΓ©lanie GrΓ©aux summarises the findings
Part 2 that I did will be out in August
Thanks Jess. We need to have that drink soon.
Yeh Iβm ok - up and down. No money for bills. Finally admitted I need a graduate loan to survive
