Further research into the impacts of microplastics is needed, and although existing policies like single use plastic bans and plastic packaging taxes are helping to tackle these issues, more needs to be done.

#Plastic waste is a huge concern, especially as it breaks down into #microplastics. ๐ฌ
These are being found throughout our soils, rivers, oceans and in the air we breathe. ๐
Sources include #litter, #fly-tipping, agricultural #fertilisers, and erosion at coastal #landfill sites. ๐

After decades of campaigning, we are thrilled that regulations for the Welsh #DepositReturnScheme (DRS) have been laid in the Senedd! ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ท๓ ฌ๓ ณ๓ ฟ
It is set to include cans, plastic bottles, glass bottles & reuse! ๐
If approved, Wales will launch its #DRS alongside the rest of the UK on 1 October 2027 โป๏ธ
We note that future policy to achieve proposed targets should be fair and not disproportionately affect disadvantaged people and communities.
We require a significant effort to raise awareness and a holistic, multidisciplinary approach to interventions to reduce air pollution ๐จ

We responded to the Welsh Government consultation that proposes #AirQuality targets for fine particulate matter (PM2.5).
We agree with the proposed regulations, but we highlight that not all air pollution in Wales is under our control and that UK and international collaboration is crucial.
