Really appreciate y’all taking the time to write up your approach/timelines and to address concerns the community brought up when AI/ML-assisted moderation was first mentioned.
Hybrid approach makes the most sense, both from a harm-reduction and community-engagement perspective

I have a question (for you or whoever can answer):
Didn’t/doesn’t this song feature Wyclef Jean instead of Stephen Marley? Am I trippin?

I struggle to believe that this is the perspective of an adult, and if it is, you’re really proving his point.

Blacksky
Decentralized social media built for community power, culture, and collective freedom.
If you’re using the Bluesky app, you should be able to do it the usual way.
I think it works similarly on blacksky.community but I’m having issues logging in rn

Yes, via intentional, sustained outreach. If Mamdani hadn’t made the effort, he wouldn’t have pulled members of our community in.
Talarico seems out of touch with the Black community *at best*; complacent toward yt supremacy at worst. We’ll see if he corrects that

Black Teens Lead in AI Use for Schoolwork, Pew Survey Shows
60% of Black teens use AI chatbots to help them with their schoolwork.
“Dr. José Luis Vilson, executive director of the nonprofit EduColor, notes that Black students’ disproportionate reliance on AI for homework help suggests they may not receive the same level of attention or resources in their learning as white students. “

Lol, true, but a 400lb leg press isn’t really impressive for someone who exercises regularly. Seems about right for a 72yo man on PEDs

These guys love using bumper plates to seem stronger than they actually are

Hmm, not exactly. I think Black “incel-ism” is moreso about performing hypermasculinity and predation thru explicit dominance.
White incels are more passive-aggressive/insidious about it.
Think “big dog” vs “underdog”

This may be a regional thing, because where I’m from in the South, I can’t imagine making a request of somebody (esp someone I don’t know that well) without including “please”.
Particularly over text, where it’s harder to delineate tone. I’d interpret it as disrespectful in either direction

Had to switch to non-aluminum deodorant when I was studying abroad in Germany bc that was all they sold. I had some left over when I got back to the US and thought I’d keep using it… immediately got called out for smelling musty 😭
Went back to using that good ol’ Degree

Whether it’s protesting, calling your legislators, or educating people in your community about us and how we deserve to be treated, I think taking action will alleviate some of that fear and worry.
If enough people do so, folks like me and your child won’t have anything to worry about ☮️

I’m glad you’re supportive of your trans child; we’re collectively gonna need all the love and support we can get in these times.
I’d caution you against getting stuck in terror - instead, use whatever resources you have to advocate for your child and people like them.

To be clear: the current standard of care is sufficient. The problem is transphobic busybodies trying to deny access to that care.

Utah study on trans youth care extremely inconvenient for politicians who ordered it
The state's ban on gender-affirming pediatric care "cannot be justified" by science, a two-year review concluded.
No, there isn’t. If you believe there is, please cite your sources.
Because an extensive review commissioned by a *Republican* governor found that there’s no evidence supporting the recent attacks on trans youths’ healthcare: www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

To protect whom, exactly? Obviously not trans kids - these screeds always ignore their perspectives, as well as those of trans adults who transitioned as minors (hello hi 👋🏾) and wouldn’t be here otherwise.
It’s fearmongering, period. You really don’t have to give him anything.

Frankly, considering his lack of apology, I believe he meant that shit too - even if expressing it out loud was involuntary.
You’re in my mentions like I speak for all Black people on the internet. I don’t agree with the ableists, but I have little to no sympathy for that man at this point.

Would it though, or is that something you’re projecting onto him?
People aren’t morally culpable for something outside of their control… unless the thing in question harms others. Then yes, they become culpable for not making amends.
I think he’d be receiving more grace if he had.

I agree with you when it comes to daily interactions amongst regular people.
I just struggle to hold the same grace for a man of privilege (despite his disability), when people like me lose everything over lesser transgressions. I think positionality has gotten lost in this discourse (not you)

This gives me something to think about. Personally, I default to deference unless it’s something worth dying (or losing my comfort/freedom) over because, as a Black male-presenting person, that’s often the choice.

I don’t disagree with you there.
I hope we can agree that there’s a difference in impact between, say, not making eye contact or accidentally calling someone ugly (as random examples), versus yelling a slur on TV?
It’s ableist to expect an apology for the former - I’m skeptical about the latter

I had to realize that the transgression itself says nothing about me nor my value as a person, though. If people want to belabor the point, that says more about them than me (assuming I’ve genuinely tried to atone).
In short: self-awareness without self-esteem is an unhealthy combo.

I feel you; that’s something I’ve had to heal from myself.
What helped was learning not to look to others for validation. I want to be a good person, and good people apologize when their actions have harmed others - whether intentionally or not.

You’re entitled to your opinion. I personally see it as a both/and; he’s not cognitively disabled, he can take (true) accountability for how his behavior harmed others.
You’re taking away his agency by claiming his disability exempts him from basic decency, when he’s able to engage with it
