Hubby, daddy, lawyer, photographer on Canada's east coast. This account is primarily filled with wildlife and nature photography by yours truly, with maybe a bit of snark here and there. If this is your vibe, welcome aboard!
Thanks Teri!
Thank you, Rob.
Thanks Martin!
Actually snort-laughed out loud at this one. π

A male mallard duck with grey and brown body, dark green head, white neck ring, and yellow bill has its wings straight up, partially obscuring his bright green head, as it lands behind a softly out of focus ridge of white snow that is artfully obscuring the bottom portion of the image.
I kinda like this shot of a Mallard drake touching down on a frozen pond behind an out of focus snow-covered ridge in the foreground.

A brown and white osprey is standing on tippytoes in a defensive posture with its wings spread wide and its head feathers sticking out and its beak open. It is on a large nest made of sticks, and is facing toward an unseen assailant flying in from the upper right.
For today's #BirdOfTheDay theme of #WingsOpenNotFlying (birds with wings open but not flying) we have an Osprey who was quite upset and put on an impressive threat display when a rival osprey came too close to its nest. Eventually there was a brief mid-air tussle.

Not willing to suffer for your art, I see. ;)
Simple solution. Tie a different coloured ribbon on each one!
You're welcome.
For those thinking "you should pull back a bit and give the top and bottom birds some space," you're not wrong. But with wildlife photography, sometimes you have to take what you're given. Here, I had a fixed focal length lens & no room to back further away, so this is what I crammed into the frame.
Two mature Bald Eagles with white head and tail and brown body and wings are perching on an evergreen tree, with a clear blue sky behind them. One eagle is at the top of the tree and the other is on a branch a few feet below.
On this #TalonTuesday we have a nesting pair of Bald Eagles taking a break from making babies on a beautiful winter day. Their nest is in the same tree, just below them.

What a beautiful bird. Hard to believe, but I've never heard of a pinon jay.
Oooh, I like!
A medium-sized black bird is standing behind a dark pile of wood chips and dirt with a bit of snow mixed in, such that only the top half or so of its body is visible. The crow's body is facing the camera but it has its head turned to the right for a profile view.
Todayβs #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Corvidae (any bird of the corvid family) and this American Crow is here to show us how elegant a corvid can be.

I can already see the NIMBYs and BANANAs lining up to [I'm sorry for this] torpedo this opportunity.
That was very obliging of them to sit there patiently until the light improved. :)
One of my cameras does it automatically, but that's because it has an internal GPS receiver and gets its time signal from that. The other ones require manual intervention.
A mostly brown and white goose with black neck and head with a white throat is swimming from right to left with a blurred background. The goose has its bill open and you can just see its pink little tongue.
Looking forward to the return of our waterfowl once the ice melts out of the lakes and rivers. Here's a Canada Goose from last spring.
