An update from the princess herself near the end makes Dassan have this meta-question. Which isn't about me as the writer, but as 'the boy who read a whole temple library' it's just his kind of metaphor.
He may be too pessimistic too, but you don't know when you're one of the MCs..

No beams it seems, so I'll go with radiate for the story of Dassan.
Whatever his background and his reputation oversees, in the story he'll be a rather chill dude who can adapt to the matriarchal empire of Yanipol, unlike the Ankan highborn members of parliament here.

It's a main theme in the story, and there is a great distance between the official image of a member of the Yanipolite imperial family and the actual person behind it, if there even is one left...
(In the case of Hanada there might be conflict between both too.)
